I can't say thank you enough to esalon. I was raised in a super strict household and was absolutely forbidden to dye my hair, not even "boring" colors. I ended up becoming terrified to dye my hair ever. That continued all the way until now, at age 31. I have had grays for about five years now, but only a few and I always would pull them out. After an extremely stressful year, I officially started developing large gray streaks all over and while I love the idea of aging gracefully and naturally, it honestly made my self esteem even worse. Well, only a few days after the gray streaks developed (which somehow happened practically overnight), I got an ad on Facebook for esalon. I read hundreds of incredible reviews and tentatively clicked on the site and took the quiz. I was amazed at how thorough it was, and they asked about hair texture and length, too! I uploaded a picture because I had no idea how to choose the right color. They did it for me! I ordered and was super Nervous. I got my package in the mail and it was SO beautifully packaged which I loved. And they thought of everything....even included a second bottle of dye and developer since my hair is butt length and super thick, for free! The directions are laid out SO uncomplicated and simply on a long piece of paper that comes with a sticker so you can stick it right in front of you on the mirror! I know it's dumb but for someone who was so scared of messing up thru the process, having that in front of my face to read over and over again to make sure I was doing it right was HUGE. it turned out to be such a simple process, with such clear instructions. I rinsed it out, shampooed and conditioned, got out of the shower and my hair looked exactly like it did when I was 17, I swear to god. I looked exactly like myself🥰 thank you esalon, my color is just what I wanted :)

Even in sunlight, purple wasn’t seen. Turned more of a red brown than the darker purple brown. The solution strength surprisingly dried out my hair which was all natural and healthy.

I've been getting my hair colored professionally for many years. I've decided to take a chance and try it myself again as I did when I was younger. I felt comfortable doing the process as my mother was a hair stylist and she taught me how to do root touch up's and color hair. I took the leap with trying eSalon color because I kept seeing ads and finally read good reviews, not on this site, but other sites about home hair coloring. After going through the color choices I picked one that ended up being EXACTLY what I was looking for. It is the right amount of medium brown and covered very evenly on my head. My gray hair is very resistant to coloring but eSalon color covered my gray hair with a nice golden color that makes the gray hair appear like highlights. There was also a generous amount of product to use, enough that it would cover someone who has long hair. I'm very happy with this purchase and will continue coloring my hair this way.

Ok, so I waited about a week after dying my hair to write a review. I wanted to see how the color held up after a couple washes. I AM OBSESSED RIGHT NOW. I have always bought boxed dye and hoped for the best. My hair would be dry and my color would fade quickly. It was awful. I quit dying my hair about two years ago, and was skeptical about doing it again. I came across eSalon and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed! The entire kit was fantastic. The hair dye didn’t burn or make my scalp itch, the stain guard smelled wonderful and worked perfectly. It was the first time I’ve dyed my hair and didn’t also dye my forehead and cheeks haha. The dye washed out easily... I have long, thick hair and usually I spend about forty-five minutes just getting the dye out. This took about 20, if that. The shampoo!! HONEY. The most luxurious shampoo I have ever used outside of a salon. I felt like I was in a commercial or something. The conditioner was amazing, too. My hair is pretty damaged from my thyroid issues when they got out of whack, and my hair feels and looks healthy. I will never buy boxed dye again.
Only issue: I used Demi-permanent, and it dyed a few spots in my white tub. They’re already fading away, but definitely still visible. I would spray down the entire shower with water first so that it’s all soaked and the dye has less of a chance to stick. However, it’s totally worth it still. No regrets.

First time I dyed my hair no one noticed. That's a huge compliment. Although I am an adult, my mom has always said she would kill me if I changed my hair color. She was convinced that there is no exact match for my shade of auburn. She has now admitted she was wrong!

I was too nervous to try, and kept putting it off. Finally, my roots got too long and I opened the box. Everything was neatly packed and easy to read. I appreciated the sticker for the instructions, to stick to my mirror. Every step was straight forward, and I was probably a bit conservative on using the product on my roots, more on that later. My husband had to help me while I was trying to do the back of my head. All in all, application was easy enough. When I took the product into the shower, things got a little difficult. I found it very hard to breathe while doing the final steps. This is likely because my shower is glassed in, no curtain to let fumes out. I plan to try another shower next time. Once washed and dried, I couldn't believe how good my hair looked. I showed it off for the next couple days...until the grey patch reappeared. Right at the front of my head where I usually have my part, it seems the colour washed right out of the area. Not thrilled about that, but not going to stop using it yet, as it may have been my error.

I bought this kit as somewhat of an impulse buy knowing that I wanted to go darker with my hair but not wanting to buy the boxed dye at the store. My stylist was very helpful picking out my color and listened to my need of wanting to correct the red tones in my previously dyed hair. Start to finish, this process took me about 45 minutes, whereas in the salon to get my hair dyed takes upwards of 2 hours. I also have a LOT of hair, but one bottle was enough to cover it all (they sent me 2). Overall I’m very pleased with the color, the customer service, and ease of application!

Great color at a great price! Covered my grays and matched up with my existing dark brown hair color very well! It wasn’t too dark and hasn’t faded too much after several washes.
That is my only complaint, that the color did fade a bit, nothing drastic though. Thus, the four stars instead of five.

I was surprised by how red it looked on my hair. It took me about 1 month or so to get someone to help me do the coloring. The second one arrived this week and I really don't need it yet so could you wait until about 6 weeks later before you ship the next one. I have adjusted to the color but by then I may want to tone down the red tones I am getting with this formula. I also noticed that my hair texture has changed to be more coarse. Is this normal? My hair is fairly short and usually don't have to put conditioner on it in the warm months. Now I have to use it and moisturizing shampoo.

This formula is a perfect color match - on the first try! It covers grays very well too. Only issue is the smell is pretty toxic but that probably can’t be avoided.

I was extremely happy with this I will never go back to store box dye again! They contacted me first about opitions -so send in your picture if possible! The color is beautiful and it is just like salon color- I really like the application process and I cannot wait to do it again! The only down side I would say is that I have really long thick hair so I need more shampoo and conditioner then what they send and I feel they should send 3 pairs of gloves for the 3 steps. But oh well, minor problems for such beautiful hair! Thank you!!!

This color is working well for me. Since I have fine, delicate hair, I've been buying the "demi-permanent". Almost wish I could go fully permanent, as this color seems to wash out in the first week.

I love the fact that with some input from me and a request to adjust the color a little, it was acomplished so easily. I’m very happy with the product. I do find putting the color on the back of my hair to be very hard. I’m going to continue and hope it gets easier. That would be the only issue that would send me back to a salon again.

This covered my grays better than any color I’ve used in the past - home use or from a salon. I did experience some burning during the application process, towards the end, but it didn’t actually run me. I love the result- pure color, shiny hair and not a trace of gray!

This coloring system is great. I love the color that was created for me and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it! It is very rich and multidimensional.
Everything was spelled out perfectly and I followed the instructions exactly how it was stated in the instructions. I think because it was quite different than how I normally color my hair at home, it came out a bit darker than it was supposed to be—however, I believe that it was my fault for not adjusting the time slightly to accommodate for it taking more time to apply.
I have one minor complaint that there is a lot of packaging. It does make everything a lot easier—so I don’t know that anything could be changed or consolidated, it just was a lot to recycle/toss.
So why 4 stars and not 5? I selected this product because it was supposed to leave your hair in better condition than store bought color, however, I did not find that to be the case. YES, the color does last longer, but now my hair is so dry it is constantly getting tangles and I can only comb—not brush—my hair. A disappointing finish for what seems to be an otherwise great product.

I was a little nervous at first about going from blonde to red but I absolutely love the color you developed for me. The only problem I had was it did not dye my roots to well. I will put more on my roots next time around.

I have spent years trying to find a good mahogany medium brown colour to use at home and every single time my hair just colours dark brown/black!! I have to wait for the colour to fade out for weeks before its anywhere near the colour I had hoped for. Finally, I thought id try esalon and for the first time ever I immediately have exactly the shade I want. I absolutely love it!! I started out with the introduction pack at a reduced price which was great and full of essentials. The shampoo smells devine!! I am now only ever going to use esalon and my second dye is onroute!! I really cannot recommend it enough you wont be dissapointed I promise!!!

The colour of my hair is gorgeous, even through out (thanks to separate colours for roots and ends), and shines like otter’s coat!
The reason why I gave 4 stars is because the colour came out dark burgundy brown rather than medium pearly brown.
Never the less it is beautiful colour and I had such colour in the past thus I am not too fussed over it coming differently than expected. In fact I signed up for autoship every 5-6 weeks for same colour. However if somebody wants their colour exactly as per colour chart they might be disappointed with the result.

My color set has sat under my bathroom sink for a couple of months now as after I placed the initial order I ended up getting salon color. Eventually, I got back to a point where I didn't have the time to make an appointment with a stylist but hated how washed out my last highlight made me and my fair skin appear so I busted out my eSalon color and gave it a shot. I love the color! It looks great a day later. I'll be interested to see how it looks after a few washes and how it grows out. Regardless, easy to use, better than buying drugstore box color, but my only complaints are that my hair has a really interesting (not great) smell to it today. I think that's in part due to the fact that even though I've washed my hair three times now (with the provided shampoo and conditioner and my own) some of the color still hasn't come out. The majority of my hair feels good, not too dry, but I can still feel really sticky residue leftover in parts.

Color, developer, gloves, stain remover. Boom. I happened to have a brush and bowl already at home and now I feel like a pro. Kind of. The only thing is I make a mess of my towels and shower curtain.

I love the color but just a little too red for me but I know we will get it fixed in the next bottle I get from E salon! I do however love the coverage of my greys! I have never had a hair color fix my greys like this one!! I just love it & it was so awesome to have delivered to my door.

This was easier to apply than I thought it would be. I did it myself so just used the bottle, missed one or two small spots but that was my fault. The color went on easily and the directions were great. My gray is very color resistant, but this color seemed to "stick" better than the store bought brand I usually use. Gray areas are slightly lighter, but like I said, my gray is stubborn. I like the look of the color, it looks natural and not flat. I lioved that it came with 2 pairs of gloves and the cream to apply around your hairline to keep from staining the skin.
Overall very satisfied with this color set

I LOVE my hair color!
I had so much fun with getting my custom color, I hope my stylist did too. In the beginning I had an idea of what I wanted and with each trial, I would take a photo of the color and send it to my stylist and say what I liked and what could be changed, such as this is a little to light, more gold, could the same color be a shade darker or deeper or richer. Changes would be made and after 6 months I finally figured it out and got my perfect color. I really did like trying the colors as they came. I never felt that my requests were not being heard and I never felt as if my stylist was annoyed with me or frustrated with me.
Since I have been using this hair color my hair looks healthy and feels great.

Color is fantastic. As far as the highlights, when mixing the activator with the highlight powder, while it did get creamy, it was not creamy enough. It had a paste-like texture, but there was enough to cover the hair, though barely. Please advise further on this for me.

I used to dye my hair myself with standard black box dye from the supermarkets. It always looked patchy and just never made my hair feel that great, but I couldn't really afford to go to a hair salon. I saved up some money and eventually did go to a professional, since I wanted to go a tad lighter with my hair colour. Although the results were okay, I just didn't feel like it was worth the money I was spending. After reading reviews of this hair dye - I decided to go for it! The colour is perfect, exactly what I wanted, a rich chocolate brown. My hair feels super soft and looks so healthy. Will definitely be dying my hair with this from now on.

So I really love this color and an thinking when I do it again it'll be better. My only issue is that the instructions said 10 minutes on the full head after the roots part and I wish I would have left it longer as I had some blonde chunks that still are a bit too blonde. The roots are just the color I want and my hair doesn't feel or look fried. Also no stingy scalp during the process. I'm impressed.

and updated my shampoo to help it last longer. I noticed that my grays used to come back after only a few wash. Found a shampoo for colored hair and it also makes the color more vibrant as well as last longer.

Decided to try a more golden tint for spring and it was perfect. I was afraid it was going to be orange but it was a hint of gold instead. Perfect and my hair feels great like it wasnt even colored.. totally natural.

The color last longer without that fading, stays softer also no more straw feeling. If the color isn't perfect, they will tweek it for you until it is perfect, can't get that in a box!

I'm a hard sell. My hair is a true medium ash brown but contains strong red undertones that pop out when I use box color, rendering my poor hair orange every time. So it's been either boring, flat brown that depresses me OR budget-breaking lighter happiness. I decided to take a chance -- one chance -- on eSalon and ordered the blue toner along with the custom hair color and voila! a beautiful light brown shade with honey notes that I can definitely live with. Thanks and air kisses to the people behind this formula.

I dyed my hair with a drug store color for cartoon hair. It was fun but there came a time to straighten out the color. I had decided I wanted to try red but I wanted a red shade that looked like something God had created not something that looked fake. I took the quiz to find a shade with eSalon and they created a color. I love it. Next time I want to lighten it a little and I know they will know exactly what to do. It works. $10 intro and $20 after that.

When I first used eSalon they didn't get the color right the color my roots were darker. The colorist did take care of the matter right away. And now the color is Perfect.

I think this is as good as professional hair coloring. The whole kit is sent without having to purchase anything extra. I have to say the smell is a little strong but it doesn't bother me.

I told them what I didn't like about the first color and they listened! Not only that but my color leaked during shipping and they sent me a new one asap. What wonderful customer service.

I love the color. loved every thing that came in the kit. i followed the instuctions to the letter, however i have spots with gray showing through in the lenght. hair was totally saturated with the 2nd application, however i dont believe leaving on only 10 minutes for that part was long enough. the root part covered great no gray showing there at all but have areas when gray still showing and its very viewable with the dark color.

I like the color composition and am very happy with my package. Only suggestion I have would be to include the shampoo and conditioner in a bottle instead of the paper wrap they come in currently. It just helps in making the best use of the quantity.

My hair normally feels a little plastic-y after colouring but with this colour it is just so soft and lovely. I love the colour too although I do need to adjust it slightly but that is my fault for not understanding what I was after on the firt try. Can't wait for the next one!

First off, there is a little bit of a learning curve. The first color that I picked didn't turn out anything like the picture that represents it. So my suggestion would be to definitely upload pictures and include a message with exactly what color it is that you are looking to achieve. With that said, after my first try coming out too dark, I called customer service and they did everything they could to fix the problem. After sending pics and consulting over the phone with the colorist, some adjustments were made and my color is perfect! I also love that it doesn't dry out my hair like other dyes that I have used. My hair stays soft and shiny, which is a huge plus for me! I love the auto ship and the packaging is super cute!

I like my hair color. Had to make a few changes I was getting a lot of my red which is natural coming through with the color. No fault of the stylist. So I spoke with them and we changed it they out a little more ash in it but my darn hair does have a lot of pigments of red. I will have to learn to deal with it. But overall the color is beautiful and makes me look a tad bit younger. Yeah esalon stylists you are the bomb and you gave saved me more money just by doing it myself thank you.

This was my first time using this service. I loved the customization of colors that I could pick. I picked something I thought was close to the color now. It wasn't. They tried calling me, emailing me. They said it wasn't going to be ok. I ran short on time and didn't listen. I get my color. It is packaged so pretty. Instructions on point. I think that this will be great. Then I wash it and dry it. I am so pale and my hair is soooo dark that I look like a vampire. I give it to this company... They are legit, nice and prompt. They try to go out of their way when they think you are making a mistake. If I would have listened, I am sure it would have been great. Instead, the color did exactly what I was sceptical of, it is permanent! No fade yet 4 weeks in. I asked them to lighten the color and they will probably have a couple sessions to get it light enough again, but they are super nice about it. I will love this stuff with the right color! Oh, and don't forget their hair clips!

First time in using E-Salon, showed them a photo of my hair. My first use was to cover up the roots which are really quite grey. When it arrived i did what was advised. Was quite happy with the out come although still have a patch at the crown that didnt lighten up to the rest of my hair. But overall happy. Looking forward to getting some feed back from Paul as i sent a another picture of my hair once done.

I really like my custom color set. I'd like to try something in a different color- an offset color someday. That would be a refreshing change. That's the only difference I'd make.

I love this hair color. It goes on easily and does not fade as fast as the store-bought colors. Plus, it's nice and even, from root to tip.
There is more waste in packaging than I would like, but I recycle what I can.

I did not expect to like this product. I placed my order and then went back to read reviews. A lot of what I saw was that it was too waxy and thick. Sure, I made a giant mess and it looks like someone was murdered in my bathroom, but I seriously LOVE the results!!! It was so nice to watch videos despite having colored my hair at home for years. I was trying to spice up my faded out blondish-red with a bolder light red. The texture of the dye was just fine, it was also nice that I was given the “ends” color for free the first time. I wouldn’t have known to do that and I think it really did make a difference! One complaint was the smell. The ammonia smell was insanely strong, more so than any other dye I’ve used before. I forgot to turn the bathroom fan on and got really light headed. I work with chemicals and am not usually sensitive to the smell. The other thing I wished was different is that the tone be more definitely copper than purple-red. I think I’ll communicate that with my “chemist” next time.

I was using it to cover the gray that was getting more plentiful in my hair. It didn't cover completely but looked like I had light brown highlights. I just don't use it often enough to keep doing it. I have about a 1/2 dozen packages to still open. If you do want to try this, it looks very natural and is easy to take care of.

I was spending an embarassing ammout of money at the salon.
This product is better than anything in a box for sure.
They ask alot of quesgions, pay close attention to what you want and deliver exactly that...with your name on it!

I am soooo glad I found this web site. I was spending 120.00 on my hair but wasnt happy with the color. The hairdresser would not listen to what I wanted in my hair color and I was very frustrated with her but didnt want to go to another one, figured it would be the same. Then I saw esalone on pintrest. I read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. So glad I did. They comunicate with me all the time. I am never on my own, they are always there to help me. I know when my color is coming and am asked if I want to make any changes before they send it. I am very happy!!!!
