This is the first color that has evenly colored my hair from roots to ends. It is fading out now but I believe that is partially due to my hair being naturally curly and course. It does not take color well so I was thrilled when it dyed so evenly

I have very fine hair, chin length. I which I started coloring at home, with clairol root touch up, over 8+ years ago, and after realizing, I could color all my roots with that kit, I stopped going to the salon. I started with Lt brown, but wanted to go a bit lighter to Dark Blond, (my natural color), but, unfortunately, it was beginning to make my ends brassy. One day, a year ago, I switched to L'oreal root rescue in dk blond, and liked the root results, in all, the color was ok,but the ends were still lighter, and had a gold/brassy color, especially after a few weeks. I, decided to try Madison Reed, and chose a color in a neutral Dk Blond,that looked like what I wanted, but the results were Horrible. My roots were so light, over an inch, not only did not cover my grey, it looked like a swath of grey/white on my roots, and the ends were still more or less the same. I was glad it was the weekend, and went to purchase a box of L'oreal root rescue, which at least covered the roots and sort of blended into the rest of my hair. I was considering going back to the salon, to have a professional, "fix" my color, but decided to try esalon , input my color needs and sent pictures of my color and waited for my box with anticipation. I followed all of your directions, and.......drum roll please:)......It came out BEAUTIFUL. My hair looks natural, full of shine, not brittle, and compared to pictures of my natural hair color when younger, looks the same. The color is not flat, it acutaly has subtle highlights, (I think they may come from my grey hair which colors a bit lighter?) and I've had people complement me and ask what salon I go to, or if it is my natural color. I tell them about your product,seeing is believing.
I will post again at the end of the month, about how the color stays through washing, and next touch up, but for now, I am very happy customer.
They really match my normal color perfect I wasn't sure the first time but yes it is great and really does hold better then store bought, and it does still really smell when putting it on but the smells goes away after using the shampoo provided
I used to go to the hair dresser every 3 weeks. Each time he would "eyeball" my color and it was never the same. It would take up to 2 hours of my time. This hair color is consistent and leaves my hair shiny! I am sold!
I really love the colour! I definitely don't think one bottle was enough though..even though my hair is only shoulder length it is very thick. I definitely see spots that I didn't cover unfortunately.
I was a bit hesitant because I wasn’t sure if MY color choice (copper pearl) was gonna blend well with my Auburnish shade. So I let my roots grow out more than I usually do ... almost gave up coloring all together and was just gonna embrace the gray. But I was tired of the silver so I decided I’d go for it.
I followed the instructions to the T... stayed only on the the new growth and kept off the already colored strands and It blended really well. Because my natural hair is a multi dimensional gray (silver, white and gray), it made my hair color multi dimensional too.
It really stuck to the resistant grays ... in the past I’ve used store bought color kits and have literally seen my grays peeking through right after coloring. So all in all it went well. I think I’ll tweak the color balance a little with my colorist... but I’m very pleased.

The product was very easy to use. It had very detailed instructions on how to use each color. I had requested a purple color but it turned out to be a reddish color instead. That is all that I can say that I was disappointed with. The kit came with everything you needed. There was no real strong odors like other dyes have. I would still recommend the product though.
HOPE TO EVENTUALLY GET THE COLOR I ENVISION FOR MYSELF....

My first color was darker than i would have liked. The process was very easy. The smell was typical hair dye not any stronger not sure why the complaints on the reviews ..not so powerful that I need to complain about odor. The instructions were doable and i felt that the coloring process was not so harsh on my hair as store bought. Hope to get to the color I would like by working with my colorist. On a whole had a positive experience for my first time ...i think they were on point with base color but wish it would have been lighter with the gold tones indicated only reason took off a star.
I don't need the bottle one for the roots I only really want the intense red bottle with not blond in it. The shampoo and conditioner don't really smell very good.
I really like the color of the pure red and it cleaned up easily. Doesn't bleed after the fact.
Wasn’t sure how will it would cover my gray roots. After the first time, it didn’t cover very will. I then wrote to my colorist and they said to go longer and that worked. I’m glad I can ask for help and you answered. Thanks
The color formulation made by Sarah was perfectly nice for my Asian hair...I love it but, I failed to mentioned prior my order that I wanted an AMMONIA FREE product. Otherwise, I will give a perfect five star but for now.. four star,
I’m happy I decided to try this out. It’s like I got all three shades in one, only thing is I wish the purple was a bit more stronger. I love how some lighting I look like I have brown hair with a red tint. And then some lighting it looks like a nice dark purple brown.
Most of all my hair felt amazing after dying it. It’s never soft and shiny after I used box dye or tub dye!
If you're wanting a salon look but tired of spending hundreds of dollars then I highly recommend. You do however need to note it will still take as long or longer to do process if you are unfamiliar with coloring hair. My bf helps me!
I was very comfortable with product and the color was perfect, even better that expected.
I was really worried how the color would last in my hair. From earlier experienses the color had always faded in few days. But that was not the case with this!
Days after dying my hair I asked from my partner if the color had faded and he thought I was just too worried. But ended up to be shocked with me for weeks after for this color not be fading at all.
In about 4 weeks the color had faded to be more natural "with less shine" but the shade had stayed the same.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure how the color was going to turn out. I have colored my hair in a salon only a few times and I have gotten highlights done as well. I gotta tell ya, I was only semi-satisfied because it cost a lot of money and my color seemed to fade extremely quickly. The color didn’t cover my white hairs, the highlights did, but it was a lot of money for hardly any any highlights. Doing my own color has been the best experience ever and I am so satisfied with the results!!! When I first chose my color I picked a dark brown with red and mahogany under tones, my stylist adjusted my color to medium brown with red and mahogany under tones because of my lighter skin tone. I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. My white hairs are covered and the color is exactly what I wanted. My hair has never looked so healthy and shiny in my whole life!!! I am a true client for life!!! The whole experience has been absolutely wonderful, I placed my order on a Wednesday night my order was filled that next Thursday morning and shipped even with the adjustment and I received my color set on Saturday in the mail. It’s been great and I have been referring all kinds of friends, family, and co-workers to the website because of my satisfaction. I love my color so much, I’ve been so happy with my hair. Their website is extremely user friendly and fun to use. I love the “How To” videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you Esalon you have made my me love my hair all over again!!!!
It's a nice color and hair is silky soft.
I made the mistake of using the protectant for the skin around hairline. Now I have grey still above my forehead!
I won't use that anymore!
As a kid my hair was blonde and darkened as I grew up to a brown with lots of red in it. When the greys started taking hold, I was colouring a red. The found a favourite Intense Copper I loved. Discontinued! Thank you esalon!
Went to a new salon to get my haircut today. Had another customer compliment my color and two different stylists tell me the love my hair color. They were shocked (and probably a little threatened) when I said I did it myself!
I like my hair color , but, I did call to change it to a lighter color. I am to old for color as dark as mine. I love everything you have done for me so far. I have no doubt about your abilities.
I really love the color and how it covers my gray. A stylist (best) friend and myself switch off putting each others color on. Every time she does my color she talks about how gummy it is and hard to rinse out. I have read where others have had the same issue.
My color was supposed to be a light blonde, now I’m a red head. Not thrilled. But they are sending me a new complimentary bottle to correct it. Great service!
Loved the color, and after the first go round the color wasnt What I expected and the company re sent out another order completely on them and the second time around was perfect.
This was the second time I used this color..a dark-blonde copper mix. Got my hair cut and hair stylist kept asking if this was my natural hair color..I kept telling her "no..not even close.." but she didn't believe me:)
Product came delivered in the cutest packaging. Color mixture was exactly what I ordered. The best part is the shine that this product has, I'm older so my hair has lost it's natural sheen. Easy instructions, easy to use...has everything from stain guard to stain remover. The ONLY reason why I'm giving this 4 stars is because I purchased the Shampoo/Conditioner for colored hair. Not impressed with those products as the Shampoo doesn't lather well and the Conditioner doesn't detangle unless a tremendous amount of product is used. But the Color kit....5 stars all the way!
Loved my color! My hair felt great after coloring,, soft and manageable. One problem, gray hairs looked good and covered by new color but didn't last more than 2 weeks.
I really loved the color last time. It turned out wonderful. It had a good red tint. However, I would like the shade to be lighter and more of a Carmel light brown this time. I am attaching a picture of my hair as it is right now.
I've been loving the custom color picked out for me. The only thing is it doesn't really cover my gray hairs. It colors slightly but it's still noticeable. I would like to have more stronger gray coverage for my next order, please :)

My hair color is very hard to match...it cost me well over 100 dollars to have it done. This color is the closest its ever been and tons cheaper. Much better quality product than the boxed drug store color.
The color is amazing and the service is so personal. They always make sure I am ready for my order and happy with what I have coming. The only thing I wish was different is I wish there was an option for an ammonia free version.
I have been dying my hair on my own for a while now, sometimes i get listless and switch things up, darker, lighter, golden, toned ash, lighter again, then darker, im kind of all over the place. I have been loving the last color i did and it was all melting together so well but my roots were terrible. i took a leap of faith and tried to sort out what color i truly wanted for my hair. Apparently, i already had it i just didnt know the name for it! the root color i received was SPOT ON to my current color and it was so much fun having such a personalized kit of dye put together vs. going to the beauty store and debating which color to use.

I tried to go blonde but it didn’t work. So I asked my color stylist if I could try a beige brown. It was BEAUTIFUL!! I am absolutely in love with it and I get lots of compliments
Great color, but changing formula to correct wash out brassiness, left my color too warm at application. So I am happily returning to my initial color formula, but changing from demi permanent to permanent. Color consultants have been very responsive. Product is so gentle on my hair. Leaves it glossy and soft.
I have been using home dye for years. This product has really helped with my thinning hair. I finally don’t have to deal with the red that always seemed to show up later in the cycle! I would recommend this product... and I never recommend this sort of thing!
I’ll admit I was skeptical. I had some previously, less that perfect, experiences with at home color. I was at the point of booking an appointment at a salon. I decided to give eSalon a try based on a Facebook recommendation from a friend. I wanted a light brown color to cover my gray and not look brassy. As I waited the 30 minutes, my anxiety grew, looking at the dark color of the product I had applied to my roots. I wanted a beautiful, shiny, golden LIGHT brown, not a dark brown or a brassy reddish brown. I was worried. After following the directions provided, which were unlike any I had ever seen with at home hair color, my results are better than I had hoped!!!! I am beyond thrilled. I used to go to the salon every 4-6 weeks to have my roots done, which was $50 to $100 every month. This was a lot of money to be spending so frequently just on root touch-ups, not even changing colors or adding highlights, but I couldn't think of an ulternative since I have had some unfortunate incidents with boxed hair dye in the past and I'm always afraid I'm going to screw something up if I just buy professional hair dye and do it myself. I saw an add for this on facebook and saw the reviews, so I thought why not. From the first time I used it, I definitely saw the difference. My hair is so much shinier and smoother, I have even noticed it getting healthier over time. The color blends perfectly month to month and the directions are so simple to follow. I don't think I will ever go back to paying so much to color my hair at an expensive salon.
I will never pay for a salon color or purchase from a drug store again! Even when it fades it still covers and blends the grey. You get low lights, high lights and amazing color every time.
The product is awesome. It is easy to apply and has great coverage. The only thing is that I changed my original color to make it lighter but it was almost the same color.

I think that it is my hair not your color. It grabs the color and your color stays instead of fading. So it has gotten a little darker but this lighter color will help over time. Your color is awesome. Why doesn't salons use your color? I have had my hair done in a salon for years and the color faded after a month. Everyone said that because I am a natural redhead and older that fading color is something that I had to live with. Not with you!!!
I use to use box color religiously for my hair; as I'm turning grayer by the minute. It was cheaper but the color would fade at the roots pretty quickly. E-Salon color is a bit pricier but the color doesn't fade quickly. Its definitely has more tones in it (which I like). It doesn't look like flat, matte 1 color from a box. I've gotten quite a few compliments on it. As a natural curly WOC it's always been hard to find a color I like that worked with my skin tone. It took me 2 tries of coloring my hair to write this; the color is definitely more flattering than what I was getting in a box. It's double of what I normally pay for a box but I think it's worth it.
I really liked the color. Like some other reviews mentioned there was a residue left on my hair. However, after addressing this with the color specialists they gave some tips to resolve this problem.
I had a problem with my color before this one and the people worked really hard to fix it and Iit came out really great. Will stick with this color. As time goes on my color has been wonderful every time
I was so afraid to use a new brand let alone new color. This is by far the closest I've ever got to my natural color hair and covered every stubborn grey hair. Never go back to box or salon again!
I have not been using the product correctly and just recently sought advice from the e Salon team. I think I am doing better now so I hope I will have better results when I use the product again this weekend.
I had light over processed ends and dark roots. My color stylist was able to mix a color for me that blended the two dimensions together perfectly! Left my hair fairly brittle, though. Maybe a lower volume developer would help?
After eSalon I will never go back to regular box color. I did submit my first comment/request on my last box, so I am eager to see how they altered my formula and how it looks now!
This is a great color for me, it covers the gray well and is easy to mix and use. I wish the color guard (petroleum jelly) actually protected my skin from color. If I use it too close to the hairline, the little grays at the hairline don't get colored. If I don't use it close to the hairline, my skin stays stained for days. I think my skin stains even where I put the color guard!
I have used several different salons and salon always has a better color match

I have used several salons always coming away with red in my hair which I don't like. salon seems to really understand the color I am looking to achieve, My only issue is I would like more detailed help because I have root and side gray a layer of brown with gray hidden beneath. The instructions don't really explain when to color those hairs so I don't make the overall color darker. I went to a salon who attempted to tell me how bad home colors are they looked up the salon and the ingredients and had nothing bad to say. overall I love the concept the ability to show the color I want without someone telling me what color my hair should be. I also have very sensitive scalp and this color does not irritate or burn my hair as many salons products do.
The refresher really bumped up the color and made for very shiny healthy looking hair. My color is on point and love the shampoo and conditioner. Will probably order my next autoship.
The color is growing on me but much darker than I usually wear..... Also there was so much color even with long thick hair to was way more than I needed

I made the mistake of leaving the dye on my ends for 10-15 minutes , my hair is got totally frised . i just cut off 8" and now have short hair, I wish to go dyless for a few months to get my new hair in better condition.
I was leary ordering hair color online, but I had to make a change. I went to a professional salon every 5 weeks, and out the door it was always $135, no highlights! 3 years ago I got a bad formula mix from a box color from the grocery store and it burned my hair. Some had to be shaved off! Took the salon about two and a half years to fix it completely. My formula from eSalon came in a beautiful box with everything I needed. I loved the personal touch, "Heather's Color". It went beautifully. I have no adjustments! I love this product! Thank you!!!!!!!

I used to go to the salon and have my hair coloured, regardless of the cost. The reason i stopped going to the salon for a full colour, is because they got distracted and ended up making my colour too dark and that was one for one of the most important times of my life! my wedding day!
So since August 2015 i've used the home colour options from the chemists. They always end up the wrong colour for me, as my hair goes very light from the sunshine, but i'm also of an age where my hair is getting quite grey.
I am at a loss with home hair colours so i thought when i saw Esalon, i can't loose anything.
Well, i can't believe it, its the most perfect colour for me. I feel like the old me again. I just want to shout out about this fantastic company. Thank you so so much.
I have been to many Salons in the past 3 decades and never got the Color I asked for. It was beyond frustrating. The first time I ordered from ESalon they nailed it! And when I asked to go one shade darker they nailed it again! They can only go by what I ask for my email or phone. I did not send a picture. I highly recommend them to every one who wants great color that lasts longer than what you will ever get from your Salon.

Loved my first color. I have requested a few adjustments still waiting on those to come through. The first adjustment showed ash and I am not a fan of ash in hair color so requested an additional adjustment just waiting on that one so I can order again!
Now just on my second application. First was good but i felt just a shade too dark for the first couple of weeks. Asked esalon to adjust for a bit more tone and they have got it bang on. I feel like i've just left an expensive salon. Thank you.
At first,I was terrified to try something a new dark color. The color that was made for me turn out to be almost the exact color I had in my school days. A dark brown that was almost black that matched my skin tones perfectly. I was afraid that with hair being so long and thick there would not be enough color to cover all my greys, which are very stubborn. I have paid in the past an hairdressers couldn't get them covered or after 2nd wash the grey was showing.
Not with eSalon products! Color lasts a lot longer then any hairdressers products that I have had ruin my hair. The eSalon leaves my hair manageable and soft. I have received more compliments having done my color myself then anytime I have had a paid hairdresser burn an out color on that did not cover my greys.
The thing I have to change somewhat is the amount of color that comes in with the follow up root coverage. I ran a little short covering my roots along with new growth, due to my hair being so thick an long.
Other than that, I would recommend 100%!
I could never seem to get the color I was looking for from store bought colors. Plus they always turned brassy on me, even the ash colors. This came out just as I wanted with very little brassiness. Hoping it won't fade like the boxed colors do on me! Fingers crossed!
I like to lighten my hair a bit for summer. The custom kit took my color one step lighter as requested. Next spring I will begin the lightening progress...a bit earlier!!!
I originally was upset that this product was auto shipped to me. Although, I now realize that I had selected that option upon purchase and before I used the product. I used the dye and I really liked the outcome and the natural look of the product. I have received numerous compliments on my color since. Thank you.
beautiful color and radiant. i would have liked a little more red but it was just applied so may lighten. it was great kit and I am happy with results.
The color was developed for me that returned my hair to its natural color and more or less erased the brassy mess left behind from traditional box color and hair color removal products.
Once my greys started to come in more heavily, I found that I could no longer color my own hair at home in a way that I felt looked natural as greys grew in, but I also didn’t want to start coloring more frequently to make up for the starker line I was seeing. A professional colorist in a salon was able to eventually formulate a color that was subtle enough (that somehow had elements of my natural color and the lightness from the greys) and faded in just the right way, so that I was able to keep my dye frequency as infrequent as I like. Even though I felt the result was absolutely worth it, it was still hard to justify the higher cost (as a lifelong do-it-yourselfer). I tried eSalon completely on a whim, and I almost didn’t upload pictures(thinking ‘no one is actually going to look at the pictures, this is just going to be acpremade color). I am so glad that I did! I cannot believe how close it is to that perfect salon concoction. It looked terrific on day two and looks terrific as it has faded and my grey root growth has come in. I’m blown away, and very pleased.
I have found that the past few times I've colored my hair, the gray is not covered. I start with the roots first, so it processes longer and let it process for 45 minutes before adding water and rinsing out.
Is there another formulation that you could make to help? I have to use a powder root touch-up right after coloring. Also, we are travelling for about 4 weeks and I don't want to have to worry about it every day.

I just spoke to customer service representative Hanna telling her that my color choice is now a bit dark for me as I am approaching 70 years old. I would like to go a few shades lighter. I am going to cut my hair shorter until it is my natural color, send a picture, and come up with a shade that is more natural looking. Thanks so much Hanna for your help.
I got a demi perm colour to match closely with my natural shade but with a copper boost. I really like the shade, it seemed a little light at first but that was due to having overloaded colour on the ends of my hair. It didn't cover my grey sufficiently on the first colour but after having it reworked by the colourist with a stronger developer its covering nicely with the second.
I really like having the instructions and all the necessary bits and pieces to make the colour more easy to use. Just having it to refer to while doing the colour is comforting. I also got the copper colour booster to help keep my shade looking fresh and I really like It. So simple to add in once a week.
Although left a reddish residue it did washout after few weeks, but now my colour has been toned down for me, so hoping my next shipment is just as good, but well worth money as last much longer than any other brand out there. Highly recommended
