I love the color, but it did leave my hair a little dry. My hair is very thin. Is there any way to add in any hair protectant that has some sort of moisurizing quality that isn't heavy since my hair is so thin?
I enjoyed your product along with all of its unique packaging the quote on the box was also a sweet surprise. The problem is that I encountered is that I should have allowed the day to be in my hair a little longer due to the fact that I had gray coverage powder on my hair During the time of dying. So for that reason I believe the color coverage for my grays did not take as perfect as I wanted it too. I basically still had a few grays in the corners of my hair line..
I have always colored my hair but for the last 2 years, the color would not cover my gray! I changed brands and even went to a hairstylist who said she could remove the gray but $145 later it was still gray and actually worse than when I did the color. The first time I used eSalon I got the same result. It did not cover my gray!! I was so disappointed but decided to call and talk to a color specialist who asked me to send a picture of the results. Once the specialist looked at the picture and asked me a few questions, I was told they would adjust the color and send me a new free kit. Once I colored my hair with the new adjusted color I was ecstatic! After years, I now have golden blonde hair! Thank you eSalon!!
This was my first at-home coloring attempt and it went really well thanks to the great esalon service - a great color recommendation and very easy to follow instructions. I was nervous but it wasn’t hard and turned out really well. My only issue is the very strong chemical smell while using the product. I didn’t have any adverse skin reaction whatsoever, but I’m not sure I can tolerate the smell again, even though it is temporary. I’ve smelled a chemical smell at times at the salon, but being enclosed in a shower with it makes a difference - it seems much stronger and harder to get away from. Other than the smell, I would highly recommend esalon’s product.
The product was fine I just didn't like the color as much as I could have. It needed a little more red and a little less brown. Although I want my tint to be dark so the contrast is greater between my pale skin and hair. I'm still sold on the product and will continue to purchase for my coloring needs.

I don't colour my hair often, I think the last time was highlights 4-5 years ago. My hair has darkened over time, and just got this dull, bland drabby brown, where I used to have light blond with red undertones (back in my 20's)
I just wanted to give my hair colour depth and warmth. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go blonder, redder, or just lighter. Walking through the colour interview process, it landed me on a colour that did all three. - golden mahogany. I didn't want it to be super bold, I wanted the change to be noticeable, but subtler.
I could not be more pleased with the outcome!
It's shiny, give my hair the depth that I was looking for, and it subtly brought back those honey gold and reddish tones I used to have!

I truly like the concept of this way of keeping up with my grey roots between visits to my hairdresser. BUT. . .because I use it only for coloring my grey roots, not wanting to do my own highlights, it would be better for my situation if there was a smaller amount of the product just for coloring grey roots. I tried using and mixing just half the product and it worked just okay and was a bit inconvenient used that way. When I mixed the full amount, I ended up throwing half the product away. Is there a lesser amount just for coloring roots - at half the cost? That would make it an EXCELLENT product! -- If not, I'll keep mixing and using just half at a time.
Loved the color, though it ended up not being quite as dark as I hoped. I really loved the detailed instructions to apply to roots first and then to ends to ensure even color.
I ordered my eslaon from a instagram ad in the beginning of May.. I looked at the box for two weeks. I was a scaredy cat. Finally yesterday I asked my 15 yr old daughter to help me. She was more than happy to help. I had baylage on the ends that I didnt care for! My goal was trying to do a all over same color. I followed the instructions to a T. Roots 15 minutes then color the ends allow to process for 10 more minutes. Well there was one area that didn't take very well it is brown just not the Mahogany color that the rest of my head was. I called this morning and informed the staff member what had happened. She said that they should have had me use a filler which they didnt and that I should have left it on longer than 10 minutes ,Which they never instructed. The colorist gave me a free ends bottle for my next go round, That made my DAY. ;0) the good thing were the area is that it can be pulled back in a pony or half up in a clip and you cant see it. My friend said that she can barely see it. However I’m obsessing over it. ESalon was very friendly and kind and listened to my problem. I’d highly suggest using them to anyone.
Never did I think I could color my own hair. I had been seeing the same colorist - whom I loved - for two decades. Then came the stay-at-home order, and I was stuck. I tried eSalon, based on the reviews in Allure - but with much trepidation and not a lot of hope. Surprise! Not only was my color perfectly matched, not only did the color cover my gray hair, but the results were comparable to those obtained at the very hi-end Manhattan salon. Really and truly. I can’t believe it. I still love my colorist, but not at the rate of $200- plus - every three weeks. I am sticking with eSalon.
I wish something could be done about the odor! It’s so strong and overpowering.
Otherwise, the color wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but the quality looks fresh from the salon. Healthy and shiny color.
My first 2 goes with e-salon colour didn’t go well. The first was waaaaaay too dark and I had to remove the colour. The second barely covered my gray and roots at all. This one was just right and I’m very happy with it. Third time was the charm.
I was using a different mail-order coloring kit. I really appreciate the personalization of the eSalon kit, and my hair looked dark and rich after coloring. However, the eSalon color faded in a month. Not knowing if it is safe to recolor so soon, I am hesitant to try this one again.
The overall color and feel of my hair afterwards was nice. I was a little bit disappointed with the coverage of the grays. Although my gray hair was not totally covered they're not as prominent and do blend. But I will give it one more shot with this color kit.
I had dyed my hair using box dye about 2 weeks before using eSalon. I wanted to go back to my natural hair color (dark brown) because I had balayage that grew out & was starting to look brassy. The box dye looked okay at first but I noticed it fading fast & there were a lot of patches that didn’t dye completely. I LOVED how dark my hair was right after I dyed it so I wanted to dye it a soft black. I have very long, thick hair. The color from eSalon was PERFECT, the soft black looks so good and covered every strand of hair. I don’t see any patchiness. It also looks way better than if I were to use a box dye. I LOVE THIS! Will be ordering again.
Well my hairdresser is closed so I had to cut and color my hair myself. I waited and waited as the prospect was daunting. I have to say my haircut is not so wonderful but your color was wonderful....it totally covered the grey. I did push back the next shipment since I just finished coloring my hair a week ago.
I have this product a 4* rating because everything was great about the service, delivery, packaging and the instructions were really clear and easy to follow. However, the colour didn’t come out as bold as the shade I’d chosen. I don’t think this is the fault of the product/company as my hair generally doesn’t take to colour well which is why I thought I’d give e-Salon a try! I can’t afford to get it done at a hair salon and so this option seemed really good, better than supermarket hair colour boxes. I like the colour that’s come out and my hair isn’t dry like I read in some reviews, it’s just not as bright as I’d was hoping for. I think that maybe I can’t get that unless I use bleach which I’m not keen on doing. Overall very glad I tried this and may well continue using the product in the future.
I loved the packaging and the organized instruction. Very easy to use. I loved the outcome color.
I disliked the smell. Much worse than other at home products I have used. And....grays appeared quickly.
I cant fault the quality or delivery of service. The colour was just not to my personal taste more auburn than I wanted. I have bought different items this to purchase - shampoo and condition as was impressed by these items in the pack. Im going to try root spray and a colour tint.
Would like to have more shine in my hair from the product. I would like the introductory kit that includes the clips, cape etc. However, I will order from ESalon again and recommend their products.
I went from a very light blonde to a store bought medium brown. The results were red, copper, undertones to a rusty brown. I was not a fan. I found eSalon by happenstance, but I wasn’t feeling very hopeful for the outcome. I WAS SO WRONG. I am obsessed with my color, OBSESSED! I went for the darkest brown and told my colorist that I go red very easily, my dye was formulated with me in mind and let me tell you, there is not even a hint of red! I have this gorgeous dark brunette hair with an ashy undertone. It’s so beautiful and I cannot wait for my next batch because it is oddly fun to do also! THANK YOU ESALON.
I wasn't really sure what to expect and was very nervous but figured, hey - in these COVID worrying times, if it was a disaster, did it really matter? The results were in my opinion, and for my customised set, perfect. Any grey was completely covered and the colour blended in perfectly, I was amazed, I don't know what I expected but it really was great and as good as when I walk out of the salon.
But there are cons. The application is tricky and not for the feint hearted. I have good experience with hair and I found it challenging - any video you watch of someone doing it makes it look simple, it isn't and if you have someone you trust to do it with you that might help.
Secondly - the smell of ammonia, I wasn't expecting that old-fashioned hairdresser smell, just mentioning that.
Thirdly - the feel of the hair after it was washed and before using conditioner was alien to me; it was very dry and how bleached hair feels. Once conditioned it was ok and with each wash it improved until I didn't notice it anymore.
And finally, a warning; I decided not to stand in the shower to rinse it off and thought it would be just as easy to bend over the bath. The mistake here is that when following the procedure to work the solution through to the ends for 2-3 minutes, what I didn't realise was how much it was splattering the sides of the tub and surrounding area. By the time this had dawned on me, the colour had stained the acrylic bath. It took a slightly abrasive cleaning product for me to remove the stain from the bath - which left some residual implications on the surface - and some colour that splattered onto a blind I was not able to get off. Just be aware, although now I'm wondering what effect the dye might have on the base of my shower and the sealant. I'm hoping the continuous running water from the shower will stop this from happening.
So, overall and in spite of the above, I'm still giving 5* because the colour is amazing and that's all that mattered :)
I would have given this product 5 stars but I broke out on my forehead from the cream that prevented stains. The color matched my hair and it was easy to apply, It arrived on time.
I was terrified of this product, but so depressed over the gray that I had to do something. I ordered my product, the colorist emailed me to explain the process and make sure all my questions were answered. Within three days I had my box and on Saturday I started the process. The coverage was dark as it was explained to me I could only go darker not lighter. I had to keep going at that point and followed the instructions exactly not knowing what I would get. After application, rinse, application of color enhancer and final rinse did I see my results.
Spectacular! OMG! My highlights are still there and the colors yes colors, are amazing.
So yeah, bye bye salon. I am sold.

Like many esalon clients, I used to go to an expensive salon (I have been seeing my colorist for over 15 years!), which means 1-1.5 hours out of my weekend and the salon is very crowded on the weekends (we don't like crowds anymore, do we?).
I saw an esalon ad on a website, and decided to give it a try because of the shelter-in-place situation we are in. I included a picture of my hair and specified in my profile that I have stubborn grey. My first color came out beautiful, my grey blended in very well. I just did my own color for the 2nd time last night - another happy experience.
I highly recommend esalon to anyone considering it. Take the time to set up your profile, include a picture and follow the instructions. You will be so glad that you did!
It is very hard to replicate the color. Salon did pretty good job doing it. I would want probably some more choices of undertones as well the finished % of each color in the mix. I would be able to tweak it for the next time.
I was satisfied with the color for about a week, then it seems I’m seeing grey again and like it’s wearing off or didn’t cover as well as I’d thought. I did like the looks of it initially though
I overall was pretty pleased with my custom color set. I wish it covered my grey hairs a little bit better. Not sure if I need to leave the dye on longer or if my dye needs to be a little darker to accomplish that. The matching to my hair color was crazy spot on, and I only applied the dye to my roots. I wish it covered the gray hair more consistently, and that's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars.
The color was slightly darker than I normally get at the salon. My hair was super soft, more so than at the salon.
The highlighter was too coppery for my taste and it burned my hair. It was the first time I have ever colored or highlighted my hair at home.
The first time I used the root color I was inexperienced and unsure of myself but followed the directions to a tee. I did a pretty good job and was happy with the results but I did miss a few spots and I feel like the greys didn't cover completely. So I got in touch with my stylist and she recommended that I leave the color on a little bit longer. For my next root conceal batch I used the brush, the first time I just used the bottle tip for application. Also, I was more careful&patient, and left the color on a little bit longer. I couldn't be happier with the results, I really enjoy doing this now myself! I would highly recommend it during this time of quarantine & someone who doesn't want to go to the salon as much just to have your roots done(pre-covid of course). It's very easy and inexpensive & I love the results I'm getting! My shade is medium brown which is nice & rich with no brassy undertones.
The color was easy to apply. It was a little darker than my color though I sent in a picture but I liked it. I use color care shampoo, but I have to say my roots are beginning to show already. If not, I would have given this 5 stars.
I have had 3 sets since January but with 1 thing or another I just didn't have time or the patience to do my hair myself. I gave 2 to my daughter and it turned out fab so today i decided to do mine and I have to say it turned out perfect. No more unsightly "salt and pepper" hair for me though it is a good bit darker than I am used to but I do like it but hopefully after finding they can adjust the colour I have asked for it to be made lighter. I am always nervous when it comes to having my hair dyed as I never like it to start with especially if it is a darker shade but I have to give eSalon 11/10. Their colours, service, after care and customer support is impeccable because 1 order never arrived and after sending a quick email they immediately sent out a replacement at no extra cost. I would definitely recommend eSalon to all my friends and family. A job well done to all the team....
Though I am very thankful for my dye in this Covid 19 time. It is way better than gray roots. However, I thought it was going to be redder than the time before since asked for it to be so. It came out very dark brown with hardly any red in it. I was surprised at the end result but again very thankful to have my roots covered

I'm just getting around to using my March shipment. Running late, hair in dyer need, I know. Anyway, the bottle of color had spilled, leaving it a little more than half full. There is dried color product that ran down the side of the bottle and into the tray. The rest of the contents are fine. Looks to me as if the lid was not secured?? If you want me to send back the kit, I will, but I need to use what is left today. As I mentioned I am long overdue for a coloring. What should I do at this point? Catherine
For years, I've really struggled to find the perfect shade for my hair. It is jet black (I'm Asian) and even if I just want to get some nice dark or medium shades of brown, it's either doesn't lift - or it turns into a very yukky orange. Even going to the hair salons, they just point blank say it's not possible and in all honestly, I've always turned away unhappy. Especially, as I have greys - so whether it's the shop brand or hair salons, I have to use a very darker shade to ensure coverage.
A friend of mine recommended eSalon! Not only was the whole purchasing experience an absolute joy - with such each, but the box, the items, the instructions were so easy to follow. Most importantly - the hair colour was fantastic! They nailed it! I will 100% be purchasing again!
Overall, I am please with the coverage and how the color turned out. But am a tad baffled as to how after 4 washes I'm still bleeding color? I have naturally thick, curly hair and a dry scalp, so I can get by with washing once/twice a week, depending on how I style it.
During initial application removal, I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed again until water rain clear. Seems as though when I shampoo, it's stripping away color? Not really sure, I use the Sebastián line in hair care.
I believe the tint does help minimize what is lost and aide in keeping shine.
Overall, I have enjoyed this product.
I was hesitant to try the color provided because it was medium blonde and I think of myself as a light blonde. However, they NAILED the color - it's the exact right shade - and without brassiness. The only issue is it didn't fully cover my grey. I am not sure if I need a different formulation or if I didn't use enough. The rest looks great though and my hair feels good. I will eventually need to spring for some highlights because the color is one tone.
Everything about this was fab! The colour was great but didn’t last on my greys as long as I would have liked. Could have been dodgy application on my behalf though! Will be ordering again for sure!
I’m quite happy with this service, the color, the choices pretty much everything. Until this last months delivery, I know things are a little unsettled with this COVID19 going on, but it literally took almost 22 days for my shipment to get to me. Really upsetting.
I thought at first might not colored roots well but I now feel it’s done well. I like the color light brown but may try to get it with a little more golden (not red) color to it.
Quality Coloring Product - still conflicted on price

I’m torn because I don’t love coloring my hair at home, I have a white bathroom and children who never give me time to myself. With quarantine I tried a couple box colors and wasn’t impressed since I’ve been getting professional color at a salon. I saw Terry Hatcher review this and decided to give it a try.
I love the color, it saturates my greys better then other box colors, it’s not as messy as others. But I’m still struggling with the price.. most subscription services don’t charge you shipping which makes this a $30 box color. I have no issue with $20 but the added cost makes me want to just throw up my hands and go back to the salon where I get some alone time, a scalp massage, and a style?!
After having a bad experience with another online co. whose medium brown color did not cover my grey and as a result looked very light brown, I ordered from eSalon. I then found out that my very fine colorist started making kits for clients to pick up. I had sent her a text with pic of my hair color and she said she could correct, so I decided to use her and called to cancel eSalon purchases already planned for the future. I never expected to return the kit that I had just received, the eSalon rep surprised me by telling me I should return the kit I just received for a refund. I am so impressed by this customer service. I recommend this co. to people buying kits online. I have to say that Color & Co that I first used not only resulted in a wrong color but also did not use my review after pretending as though they wanted to make sure my review was authentic. If you look at their reviews you will not find one that says the client would not use them again! I didn't totally slam them in my review, thought their instructions were good and kit. I wonder what else went wrong for users, my experience was so bad!
Red hair can be very tricky. I called to ask a question, the colorist listened to my concern, tweaked my formula and then nailed it. Exceeded my expectations.
I found the colour to be excellent, really easy to use and covered up the greys successfully. It has faded quite a bit though, not sure if that’s normal?
This company is professional all the way. Continually working with & providing the customer with a perfect salon hair color. To apply the product is fool-proof if you follow the easy instructions. All the materials you need are in the box. They are spot on with the right hair coloring, but wish it covered the gray around my temples a bit better. Have left it on longer in that area during the coloring, but it does wash out easy. Gray hairs just want to be gray.
The first time I used it, the color was not what I was expecting. After consulting with the colorist, the next color was perfect. I am in the third week with minimum fading (red is very hard to keep, especially in Florida). They are a great company to work with, and the haircolor is easy to apply and you get good results.
It was easy to use, great instructions. It came with plenty of color. The only drawback is the same as with box color, color did fade after a couple of weeks. But I am in the red family, and that is typical. I would definitely buy again.
I cannot find how to communicate with the right person. My hair, as shown in today's picture, has grown out to be silver-gray as my natural. I would like to color over the remaining blond to be a dusty or silver-gray color. Do you have this available and would you recommend it for me?
Hello, let me start letting you know that I'm in love with the quality of the product, my hair is soft and looks healthy, the only problem is that the shade is too dark, your light brown is darker than my natural light brown, the color is awesome but I feel a little disappointed because it wasn't the idea that I had in mind.
I already text to my colorist letting her know that it was too dark and providing some photos with the idea that I have in mind, I like the product and I would love to continue buying it but how can I be sure to get the color that I want. I send a picture of my natural hair color to work with but the result wasn't the best for me.
I love the product I just wish I didn't have to dye it as often ..my hair does not have that dry feeling days after like the store bought hair dye .I would love to see your root touch up products so I don't have to dye it as often
I was a little put off by everything that came but once i dove in it was easy. Most at home colors burn my eyes but not this one. The color was perfect. I will be ordering again.
I love the e-color. My problem is that I'm 81 1/2 years old and its hard forme to do the color. My with the virus
pandemic, I have no choice. I just put it all over my head and use my fingers to massage it in then wait for 40 minutes. I do need the extra thing that makes color stay longer.
I was hoping for a little more info on how long to leave the color on my gray areas. When I went to pour the remainder of color onto my head, the strong ammonia smell made it hard to breathe!
Other than those two issues, I LOVE the COLOR and the shine, and will definitely purchase more of this product!
I ordered this product a few weeks ago. Within a day or so of ordering (before the item shipped), I called because I had an unforeseen situation. I had to abruptly leave where I was staying and go back home. I had to leave in order to avoid being exposed to COVID-19. The person I was staying with needed to be quarantined and did not want to stay in a hotel. So I asked that the item be shipped to my home address. The customer service agent told me there was nothing she could do. I also wrote a complaint in the survey I was sent. No response. As of today, I have not heard from anyone and have not tried the product. Zero attempt to keep my business. Thanks but no thanks.
I was surprised by how good the the color blended to my hair. The only drawback is my gray started poking through after only two weeks. Hopefully the next order will resolve that. Otherwise I told my hair stylist it would be a while before I needed her. LOL depending on how the next batch turns out I may save $80 every month.
Arrived nicely packaged with very specific and easy to follow directions. My teenage daughter actually did it for me. It left my hair very shiny, and four weeks later, it still has a nice shine to it. My only issue is that I answered all of the questions about eye color, etc. and submitted a photo so that stylist could see my hair color and skin tone, but the final result wasn't what I wanted. I chose dark blonde, which is close to my natural color, and explained in comments that I was hoping to closely match my natural color, but it created a reddish look in my hair. It has faded with washing so that the overall color is now dark blonde, but it had a reddish tint for about three weeks. My hair did have very blonde highlights that had been growing out for about three months, so I'm not sure if that affected the color. I submitted a request for upcoming order for a different shade of blonde and my dislike for how the dark blonde mixed with my hair to produce a reddish look. Am willing to try one more time to hopefully get more of the color that I want. This product is easy to use, made my hair soft, shiny and manageable, and costs way less than the salon. It's definitely worth trying if you're looking to color your hair.
This was my first time dying my hair at home and it was ok. The directions were easy to follow and the product is good. My only complaint is the gray coverage; I have some grays and it dye did not cover a single one.
