It was easy to use and should be more reliable than box color. Love that they gave me a brush so I could get my hairline better. Only downside was they (thoughtfully) sent me a color for my ends that didn’t have brown in it. That scared me that I would screw it up so I waited to color my hair until after I got it cut so I only used the main color. It’s not on them at all but just me not wanting to risk screwing it up.

This color faded before my first color... so have had to use the tiny ringers to keep it up... not crazy about that... looking to switch to something else... but otherwise, it’s a great looking color..a bit too red-purple for my taste.
I found it easy to color my hair with salon color kit. I love how my hair feels, not dry or damaged. I do wish the color was a little lighter but other than that I love my hair and the product .
The color set that is specific to my needs have worked out wonderfully. The initial order setup was a shade too dark. After working with the team, my color setup for the 2nd time around worked out wonderfully.

My only gripe is that you did a quantity for very short hair. I always have to dispose of a at least 1/3
It was very easy to use and I liked the products very much, however color was too dark for me. I think it may have been error on my end however, I am going to look into a highlight kit to adjust.
I followed the instructions ended up with a little too much of a copper color in my crown than I was looking for. Overall not a bad experience. I had quit coloring my hair at home but saw this and thought I would try it one more time I'm not sure I will do it again? My hair has too much tendency to look reddish, I think I need to stick with my colorist.
The color came out a bit darker than I usually dye it, but I absolutely love it and my hair is super shiny! I requested no red tones and my colorist nailed it. I wish I had found this website a lot sooner.
Product is awesome - eSalon is working on getting the color right.

(Just not pleased with the color even after last request to have it changed. Not trying to be difficult... but I want an ASH BLONDE - not a yellow blonde. It's a shame, because I do like the product... but I hate the color.)
To be honest and 'fair'... I am upping my rating for eSalon... I do like their product much better than Madison Reid, which I had tried before... So I want to clarify...
While I have not been happy with the 'color', (too golden, not enough ash) the quality of the product is exceptional. I love that my hair is still soft after coloring.. the product itself is not harsh AT ALL on my (normally dry) hair and its smells nice. My colorist has contacted me about adjusting the color again and I will also say that they are GREAT about responding very quickly and providing good solid customer service. I really appreciate that. I've decided to give it another go, and hopefully the third run will be the charm! Because I really do like the product itself, if I can get it in the right color.
I am pleased with the color. However, I am working with them to cover more of the grey in the front. I am a blonde. I may just need to leave it in longer.
The kit arrived on time, was easy to set up and use and had a nice color match. My only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is that I have hard to cover grey and this didn't do the trick. Some of those pesky roots still show through. Will try again because I like the simplicity of mail delivery and custom color.
I loved the color and the way it comes, I was really impressed by the presentation of the product, perfect in every detail .
I have no talent for DIY then I found really complicated to die the back part of my hair.
The only thing I would complain is the smell, it’s a bit stronger then the one I am used to.
I’m hoping that the color last long because it’s lovely.
Being a natural strawberry blonde who lived with black hair for 15 years... pitch black... I started the long tiring scary journey of trying to get the black out. I had no expectations or specific color in mind when I started I just knew I wanted warmth. I used hair color remover once and ended up with patchy brassy orange blonde and bleach blonde mix. I was expecting this and was just happy the black was gone.
I used a semi-permanent strawberry blonde just to try to even out the brassy and patchiness. It worked ok but my roots went overly dark and as did the bottom of my hair. But it still looked ok so I left it for a while.
I ordered eSalon hoping for the best. And I am absolutely ecstatic with the results.... the color is a nice version of my natural color a little darker which I like and a ton of dimension AND no brassiness and no red... the colour they created neutralized the orange/red that was overtaking my hair.
The whole package - the little things like a roots vs ends bottle and the conditioner ... its a high level salon experience in the comfort of your own home and for a fraction of the cost.

The first time I used this color it seemed to last a lot longer than it does now. I’m getting disappointed in that the color starts to fade just after the first week.
I liked my new colour and the coverage it gave me. The only reason this review is not a five star is because I thought it may be lighter, but I asked my colour stylist if they could slightly change my next order and they were so helpful and knowledgeable.
The color doesn’t last. By the second wash it is coming out. It never happens on the initial formula but subsequent bottles are for roots and ends and therefore it washes right out.
I have dyed my hair with over the counter products for years and it always takes a few weeks and a deep conditioning treatment for my hair to recover after use but this left my hair soft.
Was completely satisfied except for my roots where my grey was showing. Color turned out great but grey cover up was a quite a bit lighter. Was a copper color & rest of hair was drk brown/mahogany/violet. Was looking for more violet than the mahogany because my hair turns more reddish no matter what color I try. Like the dark color, almost a plumb/ violet with the darkness of the dark brown as well.
I have pretty long hair and it was way more formula than I needed seemed like a waste. Felt bad to throw so much away. Wanted to use it throughout my hair.
I love the color but it does take some time to do it right! Read the instructions carefully but it’s worth it to be able to get what I want in my own home!

i have stuck with this for several years, why, because they work with you until you are perfectly thrilled with the color. I have used all types of over the counter color plans, and found none to equal this product.
They may cost a bit more than regular drugstore color products but boy are they worth it.
I have been dying my hair blonde for years. I wanted to get away from the blonde and try to go with a more natural color that would blend more with my graying hair. I tried a retail brand's silver color and, given the color of my hair, it came out an unusual darker blonde which I kind of liked. I wanted to continue to get my color from esalon because I have been a satisfied customer for for a few years. I sent pictures and explained what I had done to myself and asked it they could come up with something similar. The first try was still too blonde for me. I reached out to esalon with this information and received a personal phone call from a colorist during which we discussed my color and I thought I was asking the impossible! But, after the conversation, I received a new adjusted color and I could not be happier. I get so many compliments on my hair mostly about how natural my color looks. I highly recommend the services and products of esalon!
Color turned out nice, I feel there is still red popping through? Could it be dulled down. Maybe that is just my natural hair, and I can't do much about it. But, my husband said he really liked it, and that he didn't want me to change anything about the formula.
Otherwise, the process went well. I found parting my hair and adding color was a bit challenging.
I like the product but am disappointed to not have found the right color match yet. My hair is a little tricky. When I have a more brown color, the rest of my hair looks red and vice versa. But over all it blends in okay and is better than store bought attempts
Good color, however, the shampoo and conditioner provided wasn't enough to cover my extremely long thick hair. The dying process left my hair rough dry and coarse feeling. I feel if I had more follow up conditioner would have prevented that.
Very easy, straightforward instructions to follow. I like how my hair turns out. But would it hurt your bottom line to supply us, the first time, with four Big (I have quite a bit of hair) plastic clips and a generous-sized plastic bib-apron, maybe with a tiny velcro closure for the back of the neck?
I was very pleased with my color. My stylist hit my color right on. I wasn’t able to print the instructions so I had to keep looking back at my iPad. Luckily a friend of mine helped me out. After coloring I noticed my hair was very nice and soft. Unfortunately the stain remover didn’t immediately remove the color from my face. I really liked getting two bottles of color and developer. It was well worth the money. Also getting everything I needed to color my hair. However I cannot afford to do it again until April. I would like to receive a discount on my next shipment if possible because I understand that I would only receive one bottle of color and developer. Again kudos to my hair color expert on giving me a beautiful color.
Color could be a bit more red. Not darker or lighter, just more red and bright gold. I found it almost impossible to apply to JUST ROOTS, as my hair is fairly short and very fine and no matter what, the ends just suck in the color. I am very happy with quality and coverage of my grays.
I was amazed at how natural the color came out. At first I was nervous seeing how dark the color started to develop. I had a bad experience with box dye making my hair almost black, or a lighter brown with hot roots. The color came out a beautiful chocolate brown. It didn't cover some of my greys at the temple, but that's user error. Next time I'll leave it on longer. Other than that I'm happy. Thank you!
I really like this a lot because my hair still soft after coloring... with me, the store bought makes my hair dry and dull... However, i cancelled my subscription after 2 orders because my scalp is just too sensitive... i ended up having to deal with dandruff on both store bought and this one... If not, i would have stayed with eSalon.
Hello, like how color goes on but I think it could be just a little more darker blonde, with highlights of light blond and Champlain , Just for the winter months.

So with any first time experiment, the end result is anticipated but there is always a bit of trepidation, especially when it comes to at home hair color. I held onto my box for 4 months before trying it. I was always short on time and let's face it, I was intimidated by all of the stuff in the box. I was used to one bottle and one pair of gloves. I also had a hard time sectioning my hair so I wound up making long ponytails and coloring that way. Most of the grey came out but I missed a couple strands in the front. But I'm happy with the end result. My hair is soft, and the color is pretty much what I thought it would be. I'll definitely use this service again and won't be so nervous next time.
I like the color and ease of use, but I'm disappointed in the gray coverage. I have resistant grays around my face and no matter how covered I get them they still pop through. Other than that I'm happy with the product.
You do a really nice job designing the colors, but I would have to say that the product itself does not cover the gray/silver good enough and it fades away too soon. My next order will need to have maybe a stronger level base to lift out the golden tones, also. I'm probably not using the correct terminology.

I would give my experience a 7 or 8 out of 10. I loved the customer service and the application itself was easy to follow.
I wish my color was a little more red like I wanted or that the color had taken to my hair a little better. I am not sure if the color not taking was my hair itself (I waited the appropriate time before moving onto next steps), since even when I go to a salon I have to wait extra time for color to take OR if the color not taking was user error since I have never self-dyed my hair and I may not have saturated as much as I thought I did. I also feel that the root color was too different from the ends color.
I do plan to give this box another try in the near future and hopefully the next color will be a little more to my vision. I really did find this easy and I loved the service so I am overall very pleased still! :)
Works pretty good just need to figure out if I am allowed to put in some drops that help cover the gray better cuz I put it in my own when I would buy it from Sally's if that was my subsidy color or if it would actually help with my gray

Hi, I’m really happy to chose you. You are very organized and great customer service but I still am not happy with my gray hairs. The colors dose not cover my gray hair very well. I do follow the Constraction but still doesn’t work!!

The only thing I would have done differently is to leave the color on a full 30 minutes. I have a lot of gray and it wasn't quite long enough with the 15-20. But the color and feel are GREAT.

Wish grey coverage was slightly better but realize with a semi permanent there's no guarantee. Colour is so shiny. Hair feels amazing, so soft.

Because i have troubled hair with a silicon coating from all the wrong shampoos i have used i switched to silicone free shampoo. I did this because colour does not stick to my hair. After 30 washes it was out and i painted my hair with the colour i ordered. I was informed that the purple would not be a "screaming" purple but a brown colour with a purple sheen to it when the sun hits it. Im ok with that. Unfortunatly after painting my hair it was just brown. There is not 1 hair brown with a purple sheen. Im very dissapointed.
EDIT 20-12-2019 - I spoke with my colourist within 1 day after the review and got 1 credit free for a new colour. After ordering it I got an email with the request to upload a photo of the current colour after painting it. about 4 hours after sending the picture I got a new colour. They have changed the recipe just for me and I could not be more happy with this service. I am very happy that they responded so quickly with the best solution. I cannot wait to repaint my hair in 5 weeks. Keep up the good work! :)

It took a bit to find the right color, and im Still working to get what I’d want, but I’ve also gotten lots of compliments on my hair. Its also the first time I’m consistently dyeing it but it hasn’t seemed to change my texture, which is great.

I had been using eSalon Medium Ash Brown because even though I have medium brown hair, I also have a red cast especially on the top in the sun & Ash helps cut red. I have a little gray on top, which is very stubborn & really hard to cover. In fact, I still had grays popping through & a red cast. I talked to eSalon before I ordered again & explained what problems I was having & she suggested changing to Medium Brown & they would also make other changes to the neutralizer etc... to help with the red cast & the stubborn grays. Well, I colored my hair & am happy to say I have NO GRAYS showing through. The overall color is a little lighter than I was hoping for. I didn't see red showing through, but I do see lighter brown & I'm using the Toner Mask every other time I shampoo (with color safe shampoo & conditioner) so I'm hoping I don't see red come back as time goes on, because I noticed my hair is lighter brown after one shampoo & condition (for treated hair) & Toner Mask which was recommended to me instead of Tint Rinse.
