easy to apply and I love that they will work with you until you get the color and coverage you need. Unfortunately, my coloring this time only lasted 2 weeks before the roots started showing. For the price of almost $30 I really think I am going to need to go to a local salon for my coloring. It's only $20 more and feel they will get my color to last longer.

The hair color colored my now white hair around forehead and temples nicely! Color holds until my hair grows out. Now I wish my hair would slow its growth. 😂
After washing out the esalon hair color, my hair has a nice fresh scent (from hair color n esalon shampoo-conditioner). Unlike the store bought hair color, it leaves a fowl smell in my hair even 2 weeks after I had colored it! Not acceptable.

Easy to apply, covers well and the colour stays. Really happy about this choice. I only wish they have make a smaller version of this for grey coverage in only certain parts.
Checked out other mail order dye sites and no one provides as much help and shows as many color options.

This was my first time using Esalon. I found it on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. My custom Color was Darkest brown with ash. I gave it 4 stars because I still can see room for improvement. But for my first time use, it was so feasible. The neatness and clarity of the products and instructions were 5 stars. They had everything that I needed. Even the things I didn’t think of. I really liked that. I think my base color was too dark for me. It didn’t allow me to differentiate between a regular box dye. The dimension and ashiness that I wanted wasn’t there. It was just a single session base color. I did see a slight dark brown color but not enough that I would recommend spending $20/$25 in comparison to $3 box dye. So the color for me didn’t really excel a regular in-store box dye enough to really recommend it for just a base color.
When I used the light kit, it just brought everything together. The light kit did give my hair that red/warm tone that I didn’t want. I really wanted an ashy tone but it didn’t happen. Not that it looks bad, it’s just not what I was going for. So I think adding a cooler toner in the light kit can help with that. My hair does look nice, it’s just different from my original intention.
I love the color and how long the color lasts but it makes such a mess in my shower because it is runny. I wish that there was some way to thicken it up then it would be perfect!
Received my first order today, colour looks great, the kit was amazing, one thing ill say is it was darker than expected however thats most likely my fault for not uploading a picture, will definitely reorder ill just adjust my colour slightly
The former color was just a bit too dark. I asked them to lighten it up and it is just right. I usually color and frost but if I can get the base color right I might leave it alone. Great job eSalon!!! 👩🏼👌🏼
I liked the ease of the custom color. However when I tried to change the color and from permanent to Demi-permanent all requests for 6 months went ignored!
Not only do I love the color but I have gotten so many compliments.
However the amonia odor is do strong it actually made me gag. I have used other hair color before that did not have such a awful smell. Please I am sure you can remdy this situation.
The color was beautiful even though I would wanted I little bit more red. My hair felt soft. What I didn't like was that it was to liquid I made a mess because I'm not used to color my hair myself. I would prefer a thick formula.
A good red is hard to make look natural but your color made my natural red (with a few greys) look amazing. My boyfriend did it for me(even more amazing). I would only suggest you send 2 bottles like you did the first time because my hair is long and there's lots of it. I had to wait until my 3rd shipment to recolor my hair because shipment 2 had only one bottle as did the 3rd. That's to long in between coloring. But the color is beautiful and I'll never use another product. Ever.
The first hair color that I received turned out to be a little brassy (a.k.a. orange), because that's just what my hair does. :( My stylist asked for my feedback, and we made adjustments accordingly. Since then, the color is really nice, with minimal brassiness. The color is comparable to what I was getting in the salon at $175 a pop. The only criticism is that, when you are washing it out, your hair feels like it's coated in wax and it doesn't wash out easily. Therefore, I have to shampoo my hair about 3-4 times, before conditioning, to get my hair feeling normal again. This may bother some people. I don't mind since I get the color I want, at a fraction of the price that I was paying at the salon. It's a little tedious (definitely a first-world problem), but well worth it if you can't afford salon prices and store-bought color is impossible for you.
by looking at the picture guideline, DARK BROWN (PEARL COPPER) - 4.24, the model shows a bit of copper color. I looked at the description and noticed that it had a dark brown base but thought that with the addition of the copper color it wouldn't be soo dark, it doesn't show soo dark on the model...
The color itself that I got is a nice color, just a few shades darker than I expected - to me it is almost between a dark brown and almost black. Not sure if it will lighten once I wash it more, but I would have liked a bit more of the copper hue in it...
Exact match to my natural hair color! Only problem is that I was shooting for a shade or two lighter. If using brush to apply color, would purchase a better quality brush separately. The brush that comes with the kit isn’t so great. Great kit and customer service, will buy again (a different shade).
Looking, as mentioned in a previous email to Hannah.....for a colour such as 8.24-Icy or 8.3-gold or 8.41 ash.....thinking gold would be better....help!
I have colored my hair myself for years but was not really satisfied with the selection of colors. Now esalon creates my color as I specify and tweaks it at my request. I am a very satisfied customer and have recommended it to my friends and family.
Loved the color- was a bit hesitant because my first order with highlights was a bit brassy. Much better the second time around, though the gray coverage wasn’t as good the second time. Could also be my error in applying. Third times a charm...
The colour is amazing! However the conditioner in the pack is like a waxy substance which I then had to shampoo out(a lot). When conditioned with my own conditioner it looked lovely. Could you develop a nourishing conditioner that wouldn’t then need the extra wash/ condition?
I do love the color and convenience. I also love that I can message my colorist and talk about what I'm looking for. I think that this is a great company. I have read other reviews about waxy residue. I have also experienced this and it really bothers me. I believe this waxiness is due to not getting the color completely out of the hair. I do find it very difficult to get all of the dye out of my hair. Sometimes I have to wash it again just to get all of the dye out. Other than that, I really enjoy using this product and love all the extras that come with using it.
I am happy with the way my color turned out, but now I want a little more contrast than all over blonde. I'm thinking about ordering a contrasting darker shade, and combing it in like I did the light blonde highlighting. But I don't know how dark or which shade to select.
I really just wanted the color I FIRST got y'all to make for me ...

I REALLY LOVED the color that y'all FIRST make for me (in 2016 or 2017) as this new one was just a little dull
and though I liked it OK I LOVED THE FIRST ONE THAT WAS MADE FOR ME. It is very hard for me to answer all those question and feel confident about it.
I love the product. It did come out a little bit darker then I thought it was going to be but I love it. I think I may have to wash it 2ce because it feels a little greasy/ sticky but I don't believe it's the product. I think it's just me
If I make an order for dye and lights, How I do, it dyed my hair and the lights will go dark, will not it? then I go back I make the lights? can you please me how does it work? that's why I only want the lights for this month

Its is ok but not that much different from my normal colour really unless in the sun then you can see the different shades and my grey hairs are starting to come throigh

Cannot fault this service. Consistent and responsive. One thing I would like them to do is cut down on the plastic packaging inside the box as well as ask if the customer requires more colour remover, gloves etc. Shampoo and conditioner sachets are always needed, not so much the other stuff.
I’ve been using this for a few months now. I was so happy with the color - it matches my hair perfectly - but I have noticed a waxy type feeing as others have explained. I feel like my latest formula was the worst yet. I almost panicked thinking I did something wrong. I had to really really scrub with shampoo to get it clean. I washed it 3x. It did come out though and the color looks great so ultimately I am happy.
I tried the new formula I like the color but I still have Gray hair strands this could be due to washing it twice and I am confused on what you refer to as the roots and the ends so I put a little on the ends I want to put a clear gloss on it to help it not get so frizzy every time I get in humidity II notice you have a clear gloss but I believe it's cheaper in the store....still fighting the frizz and I would like to use the color all over
Now on my third color set from eSalon -- and having been relatively happy with the past two -- there is something horrible going on with this batch. Despite rinsing until the water ran clear and then shampooing/conditioning, I now have a horrible waxy, greasy substance on my hair. What is going on, eSalon?
Editing my original review to say that despite the issue with trying to remove this from my hair, this is easily the best color (the actual color) that I can find outside of a salon. Giving it one more try and hoping that the rinse-out process goes more like my first two batches!
Been buying over the counter hair color for years. Never satisfied with the results. My hair looks great every time I use E-Salon's formula.
I will never use over-the-counter again.
I would like a lighter color. It’s still too dark. I’m going to use the lightner you sent me. I haven’t used it yet because I just colored my hair last week.

Bought two to begin with as I don’t live where it was sent. You don’t mail to México I was told.
I had to wash my hair 3 times before it both looked & felt soft. Now it looks like it will fade away. Only colored it 5 days ago but the color now is satisfactory. Please don’t send anymore shipments as I will not receive them. Thank you.
I love the price and the color came out great. I am just having trouble covering up the grays all the way. I saw maybe one or two strands left. I may need to adjust the color a bit. It could have been that the one I chose just doesn’t provide the most coverage or I may have needed to leave the root application on longer. I will be using them again though!
I did actually cancel my order but my hairdresser actually asked me what the shade was and where I brought it from several people also said they loved the colour
I would spend $80 to get a temporary gloss on my hair. I would go in every 8 weeks or so to do this (because of the price or trouble finding a good time on the schedule) and by the 6th week, the color would be so faded, with very noticeable roots. Going through the hassle of getting the appointment (my former stylist was booked 3 months out), driving there (ATX traffic), and finding/paying for parking made getting the gloss difficult at best.
This is better. $30/month and it is permanent and I don't have the hassle. I didn't think I could color my hair on my own but with the supplies and the instructions, it's so easy. Plus the coloring is gentle and it doesn't damage my hair.
When the first color didn't turn out quite right, I was able to send the not quite right photo plus my desired photo. Minor adjustments were made and it's a beautiful color. I am so happy with my hair. It's amazing.
I would recommend this service to anyone looking to replace the hassle/price of the salon or just to try something new.
Love how they work with you to find the perfect formulary. I love my new color and I love how it covers my gray until the new growth comes in. The only negative is how difficult it is to open the conditioner and shampoo in the shower with slippery arthritic hands but all I do now is remember to cut it open before I get in!
Color and hair texture looked good. Only thing I disappointed about is that the color began to fade after 2 weeks, and now a month later the sideburn color is looking light brown.
My color turned out great not easy to do the back as I have long (past my shoulders an inch or so) super thick curly hair no matter how I divide it up it’s a challenge. My only issue was I thought I could do more lightening of color on line I can do 2shades at the store or lighter to red less price. The highlights turned out red not blonde and I needed more which I didn’t know bc it was my first time. If my hair was shorter I could prob do the roots at home and foils/baylage at salon or if I could lighten it beyond red which I hate I wanted blond highlights which I normally get. My hair turned out exactly the color I had just did fr the store a couple months earlier which was a shade lighter than my normal hair color so it works. I’ve been monitoring to see how well it lasts vs store bought.
This is a great quality of hair dye but my only issue is the colour does not last long enough with my hair the grey and roots was coming through quicker this says it covers the grey hair my I am not 100% sure that ht does the colour only last bout 3 weeks
I love my new color. Took three tries, but this is great. Lighter, but still showing some red and golden. Last time it was too red and too dark of a brownish. This third time it is just about perfect. The overall color could be a bit lighter for me, but with washings, it will get there.
Had to tweak it after the first delivery but I love my color so easy !!! And I get reminders so I don’t have to think about it or look in the mirror and say oh time to die my hair cause of all the gray.
This was definitely not a color I would have picked on my own. I didn’t realize how bad I was at choosing the box dye at the store. I’m in love with the color of my hair now.
