It takes a lot for me to sit and write a review, but I've loved every bit of my experience with eSalon.
I am SO busy and so is my stylist, so horrible roots and faded color was not helping me feel my best. I kept seeing adds for eSalon, so I checked out the website. I took my time and thought about it for awhile, and then one day I just couldn't stand my hair color anymore. I pulled the trigger and did the whole questionnaire thing and took a bunch of selfies in different lighting. (I think this is key to getting great color from them)
I've dyed my hair at home before, but never really liked doing it. I was pretty familiar with what this process would entail, and there were no surprises when I got my box a few days after I ordered my color.
Instructions were easy, I had everything I needed. I followed the instructions exactly. The only step that doesn't really work for me is when it told me to take the leftover dye into the shower and mix with water and lather it through my hair. It never lathers for me at all, but I still do it and my color turns out perfectly.
Anyways, I got amazing results and have stuck with the autoshipments. I've been dying for this deep chocolate brown with violet tones for years, and no stylist has pulled it off like eSalon did. I honestly couldn't believe it. I thought at best I'd get a rich, cool brown (which is fine), but I got my violet too :)
This is my 3rd formula for color from eSalon, SLOWLY moving into my beloved reds AND checking along the way to see how long color from eSalon LASTS on my difficult hair! Born an UNnatural (for
ME!) dirty blond going horribly gray, NOT a pretty platinum, super fine with enough hair for
4 people, my mop has ALWAYS BEEN troubled and nonresponsive to my many and varied ministrations & attempts to tame it. Off the shelf color RARELY stayed true for long, fading to another unlikely color -orange - truly offensive to my vanity...HowEVER, about 4 months ago I applied eSalon color on a friend , who brought HER new color over for us to play with. As I worked it into her hair I loved the consistency, the weight of the formula, how EASY it was to use, the lack of a penetrating and awful smell - and her color looked great! So I ordered some for myself, starting in the medium brown with a hint of red!! Here's the scoop, Girls! This is AMAZING COLOR!! It's a TRUE color - Medium Brown (Red Copper), my favorite so far, and is beautiful!! The feel of my hair is healthy and shiny, the color stays true for 6 to 7 weeks, and I'm able to use my root covers (Thank you, eSalon!) in the interim!! This color is the best - ALL AROUND - that I've EVER used!! Try it, you'll LOVE IT!!

I really love the product, it lasts far longer than any other brands I have used. I was able to adjust my color slightly with advice from my stylist, so I am very satisfied. The reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is due to the way my referral credit was handled. I was first told that I had no credit, then that the person I referred didn't exist on the system. After showing a screenshot of my credit, I was then informed that I couldn't use the credit on the order I just made. I just find this a little frustrating and feel that my time was wasted.
I love the color and coverage of grey roots fantastic, but washing out product toke at least 15 minutes. I followed directions but still the water was full of suds never ending,only complaint I have. At the salon I use to go to never could get the color right. I'm very happy with the color now thank you so much
I don't know how you do it, but a simple email request asking me for any changes I'd like to make, made all the difference!! I was impressed with the gray coverage to begin with, but I didn't think you could deliver on color change just by asking for "a bit more orange?" WOW.
I was very pleased initially with the color and texture of my hair. I applied exactly as instructions stated. However, after 2 weeks the color has become yellow gold. My sister is using this product, same color, and hers has held up better. She appled to whole head rather than roots first. It's also her second application.
I am going to need product sooner than the 6 weeks I initially requested.
Really pretty color looked two toned not just a flat color. Gray cover was average starting seeing greys two to three weeks in... I wanted to try tinted love in between colorings ,but was out of stock which is a bummer
As with every box color I try, my hair picked up a lot of red. Luckily it looked natural, to the point people would ask me if I had always been a "ginger". Since it looked so natural I decided to go with it and love it, but my initial intent was to go almost blonde, hence the 4 star review instead of 5.
I've used esalon hair color for awhile now. At first I received compliments on the color, but hair has become increasingly dry and frizzy over time. I'm not sure it's the hair color to blame though - it's probably old age!
So I ordered this in June. I got it and it may have been my error. I should have put a year probably rather than "6 months" since I last colored. The color would have been gorgeous, if the second step bottle for the ends would have had the darkest brown color in it as well. But it was just a tint with ash and mahogany in it. So my ends were a shade lighter than my roots. Not only that, my hair felt like crap for a while after this using this. I kind of expected a better feel since it's supposedly "salon quality"... honestly, I have had better experiences with store bought hair dye and my hair always feels nice after store bought as well. This stuff is a great idea, but not for me I guess.
UPDATE: I'm so glad eSalon has sent me a credit free complimentary hair color to retry their product it seems like they really care about the customer. I'm going to give it another try. Thank you eSalon. They have also told me that if I experience complication that I can send a picture of my current hair color so they can formulate it specifically for me. Always good to see a company who cares. :)
My hair color was too dark to my eye. My husband didn't think it looked bad at all. If I order again, I would adjust my color to a bit brighter. It's hard telling shades on the internet. My roots didn't cover as well as I would have liked them. First time coloring my hair for years.
By far the best home colour I have used, the half price trial was great, unfortunately I can't afford to reorder as full price plus p& p to UK is too expensive for me.
I sent a message and the colorist handling my order actually called back to explain to me the answer to my question. I was completely stunned and was blind sided. I totally did not expect that level of customer service.
I decided I wanted to go back to the original you chose for me with more copper and I sent an email. I do wish the conditioner would get rid of more tangles. I have such a problem combing out my hair it gets so tangly. Thanks!
Overall I am satisfied with everything i got in my first order. I however did it wrong and got confused with the instructions. I read on the website to do a test strand so what i did is i mixed the whole develoeper with the hair color what i didnt realize was that you only mix a teaspoon after going back and googling i realized once mixed it stops working after an hour so i had to do my whole head in a hurry!!! The instructions didnt clearly point this out and it was my first time dying ny hair at home. Also I only wanted to dye my ends because i have an ombre not my roots and for my ends it said to apply color for 5 to 10 minutes. I disagreed and Pplied it for almost 30 minutes. That part was also co fusing my hair cMe close to my natural hair but darker it looks black vut i got demi permanent so i know it will lighten it up. If i wouldve left it on for 5 to 10 minutes it wouldnt have taken the color all the way. The instructions were confusing for me being the first time and no where in the i structions did it mention a strand test only online. Because i rushed to dye my hair i also stained my skin everywhere. The pros about this product us that it doesnt smell at all like hair color or Mmonia and they give you enough product the first time. I also liked that they gave me a 10 developer instead of a stronger one my hair only needed 10. I like that they included 2 pairs of gloves. They couldve included more shampoo and conditioner as i used the whole packs already and only for 1 application. Overall i am satisfied just that the instructions were confusing and my hair color almost looks black instead of dark brown :/ i would like for them to have a chat option available with the colorist because once my order was placed to make changes i had to call in id rather chat or email colorist because i was confused by directions
My custom color was gorgeous. But, I think I will go a little darker this time for the roots. I think a darker color might cover stubborn grays a little better as well as look more natural.
I first ordered last July, but my order never arrived. My replacement package arrived 2 weeks later without problems.
I'm Asian with natural black hair, although my hair has been salon-colored. I've tried mass-manufactured colors but the colors are too dull. My esalon dark brown/mahogany, however, is very vibrant. It's almost salon quality.
I would have given 5 stars if not for the delivery problems.
I tried eSalon for the first time yesterday and the hair dye is great. I love my hair! The only problem was that there was extra dye for the roots and almost not enough dye for the ends. I have very long hair and while dying the last few chunks of hair the dye bottle was just sputtering out the tiny bits of whatever dye was left, and this was after cutting about 5 inches of my hair off... if I hadn't just cut my hair there would not have been enough hair dye. The roots bottle should definitely be a little smaller and the ends bottle should be bigger.
I have used this product before and really loved how it made my hair look. I like that it last much longer than other products I have used, it made my hair really black and velvet looking. The other product seem to fade out within a week making it necessary to tint my hair more often than when I use the Esalon product. The only problem I have with the Esalon hair color, you can't reuse the left over like the rinse (tint) I get from the beauty supply store when I need to redo or touch up this seem to be a waste when I only use only a small amount. Other than this negative the product is really great.
Love the lighter color, I still could go lighter because after being at the beach my hair hair actually got lighter. Color did not last very long this time. Not sure if it was the being at the beach or what but almost 1 week into the color I could see gray!!
I used the Demi permanent dark ash blonde on my light blonde hair in hopes of going back to my natural color. The packaging was fantastic and the coloring product and shampoo and conditioner packs left my hair very soft and conditioned so that was definitely nice. The application was easy, the instructions helped alot. But here is where my problem starts. When the hair color was processing it was near black, having dyed my hair many times i knew this is normal and didnt freak out. Also it didnt smell bad, I followed my directions, rinsed out my hair and my hair didnt even dye that much. My hair is a medium / light blonde still, only slightly different than what i had before, it doesnt look even near the photo that the dark ash blonde shows. The product is nice, I just wonder if i got the wrong color? If i could get the right color this is a product i would like to use again, Im just disappointed that it didnt turn out.
Edit : The customer service for esalon is FANTASTIC! They made sure that I was satisfied and fixed my issue and I really appreciate the effort they put into it. Very happy with that 😄
I had to adjust my color from the first time and you hit it right on this time. I do not color my hair regularly but now I have confidence in the color when I decide to do it.
Custom hair color that does provide great coverage on my stubborn gray hair. My hair is difficult to take color on the grays. This product does the job. The only thing is that it has a strong smell and sometimes after I use it I get itchy. These are the pros and cons of my experience.
Loved the whole process. This is my first color. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because I had some issues with my gray which may have been my fault. Other than that the "system" gave me the perfect hair color.
However, I have long very thick hair and the back length is already fading after 2 shampoo's. Today I used the tinted love and the tub, shower curtain and shower stall were stained. I had sent an e-mail earlier stating I cannot use less that 6-8 oz. or I don't get proper coverage. It's been a week. I'll see how it goes next week. I do love the color, though. It is close to my natural. You can see from the first photo that my hair fades out to a mousey gray/blonde with no life. Also, I should add that I am very fair skinned... I had a great deal of staining, mostly around sideburn area and forehead.
I am in week three since I colored and my hair is still shiny... By now my old hair colors would have faded away. Very pleased with staying power, even though the mixture needs some changes.
I had seen the comments and thought I would give eSalon 'a go'. Having coloured my hair since my twenties because of early greys coming through, I had no choice. I have tried most high street hair colours, with quite mixed results. I have never had one that I could say gave great results that lasted. They all seemed to fade particularly around the grey/whiter hair area around the front of my hairline, which gave a 2 tone look in my long curly hair, faded at the top with darker area at the bottom which I didn't like at all. I can honestly say I am SO glad that I have 'found' eSalon as my hair keeps its colour well now but also my hair condition is improving each time I use it. It looks fuller and healthier. When rinsing the colour the oils within it give a really smooth feel on my hair which I have never had with other products at all. Thank you for giving me my confidence back in hair colour!
the first color I received was perfect, then I wrote that the color didn't seem to last long on my gray hair but overall the color was great. I received my next order I guess with more gray support, this color is way different than my first order it's really dark. And I didn't leave it in to long either

LOVED IT! The colorist said she would match it to my natural hair color, which in pictures is darker than in person. The color matched the perceived look, but was darker than my actual. However, I loved it! And as I washed it the color lightened up a bit. There was still color coming out after about 5/6 washes, but overall really really pleased. Only negative would be how strong the smell is for the second application. I had to stop a couple of times to give my nose a break.
This hair color has almost completely washed from my hair, and it's been a month. So that's disappointing. But I did really enjoy the packaging, personalization, and more. Will try again.
I loved how rich the color looked- however, the root formula was too light, and too red- I corrected it and noted it to my stylist- hopefully next time will be perfect!
I love my color that the Salon mixed for me, and the absolutely amazing customer service. My only complaint is that it's hard for me to do the dye job, which is my fault, not theirs. Oh, and my hair grows fast, so I have to color it often. 😕 The color is exactly what I wanted, though! 🤗🤗🤗

I normally go to a salon to get my hair lightened but I'm 9 months pregnant and preparing to not have the time to get my hair done with two little ones running around for a long time, so I decided to go dark again. I have a large patch of grey in the front of my hair (more silvery, not wiry) and saw eSalon advertised on Pinterest so I decided to give it a try. The directions were more or less easy to understand although I got confused about the two different bottles for my particular color having one bottle for the roots then a second completely different bottle for the ends (I thought my kit came with a complimentary 2nd color kit since it had a tag on it that said "free gift" or something to that effect on it). The coloring process went easily. I recommend springing for the cape, its excellent quality and I'll continue to use it. The bowl/brush/clips are good quality too, but I ended up just using it straight from the bottle onto my roots and ends. I noticed a big difference between this dye and box dye in the shower while rinsing too. With box dye my hair usually feels almost matted until I use the heavy conditioner that they usually come with. After rinsing this out, which rinsed easily, my hair felt soft even without the accompanying shampoo/conditioner. After the post color shampoo and conditioning my hair felt even better with this dye. I let it air dry and was very surprised that it came out just as expected. My only complaint with the color is that my greys up in front were still slightly there/noticeable but next time I will try leaving the color on the roots a bit longer and see if that helps. After several washes with regular drugstore shampoo I haven't noticed much fading in color at all and my hair still feels nice and healthy a week later. Will buy again!
I am very satisfied with my purchase from eSalon. My natural color is a very dark brown, almost black. I had never colored my hair, and decided to go to the salon near me and have them color my hair. I had it colored a light brown, with some blonde hightlights. They did a very nice Job, but it became to much to manage. I decided to go back to my original color, but when I went back to the salon to have it done, they never seemed to be able to get it exactly right. I still had a lot of upkeep and the color was never quite right. So I decide to send my picture to eSalon and see what could be done. I received all the supplies as noted on the website. Very nicely packaged, I must say. Good quality supplies. I colored my hair last night, per the stylist instructions and low and behold, I am back to being medium brown. Just as I requested. I am very very happy with my purchase from eSalon, and I will definitely be buying from them again. Fast shipping too A+++
If l could change anything about this product . I would make foam where it would easier to put on. Other than that it is the best hair color l have ever used.
I used Madison Reed for about 5 applications. Although i did love the kit and the color, It was a shame that I could not adjust the light/dark of the formula. ESalon color is just right, it is a bit lighter than the Madison Reed and has the same good hair feel after coloring.
I am looking forward to subsequent colorings as I feel I will be able to achieve a bit lighter base color.
As a customer of eSalon you have control over with your color preferences and the timing when to have the product ship to you. In short, if you wanted to skip a month you definitely can without being penalized.
Years of coloring my hair I finally found a product with great long-lasting color. But after 2 applications I began to have profoundly itchy scalp. Numerous products, medicines, topicals and 2 more applications I discovered the culprit is the gluten in your product. So long eSalon.
The only issue is the "halo" of resistant gray hairs framing my face ; coloring doesn't last as long there as it does the rest of my hair (...any suggestions? )
I love the color that was customized especially for me. However, it drastically starts to fade after 2 weeks and by 4 weeks, I feel like I have a completely different hair color which I then change back to the customized hair color. Is there some way to prevent the drastic fading?
Didn't include directions or welcome kit with first order. Had to u tube instructions for first time use. Therefore did not leave in long enough at first use.
It was nice being delivered..wish I had more color though, I have long hair and the amount was cutting it close..wasn't quite the color I was hoping for
I love the color. I just wish I received a brush each month since I threw the one I received in my first shipment out. It didn't tell me to keep it in the directions. I went out and bought one.
I received my color today, and applied it this evening, and am pleased so far. My only concerns are I was left with some very gummy pieces of hair that have a lot of residue. I followed rinsing instructions so unsure as to what to do to make it not have that feeling. Also, my roots didn't color quite as dark as I would have preferred, but this is a problem I experience in the salon as well from time to time. My hairdresser moved on to another job, so very interested to see how my color holds up over the next 4 weeks compared to when I went to the salon monthly. I do have a few spots on the back of my head that do not color with store bought/box color so very excited that they took this color well!
wow! still not washing out like my pro color that I spent 5x more for and guess what? my 15 year old covered my roots/re-growth at home without the trip and expense of a "pro"

I have had a lot going on. I was behind schedule on coloring and I needed a break so I colored my hair with the most recent blend. I diligently applied the roots then moved to the rest and patiently waited. Then diligently followed the next steps. I put it up. Then waited for it to dry. There it is. The perfect shade. Life is good. I am grateful to my chemist for her patience and willigness to keep blending. Yay!!
Maybe it was me. This color was darn close. It covered the unmentionable. It was just a touch darker. I contacted my stylist, she's promised an adjustment. Stay tuned! 2017.03.31
What a waste of time, effort and money, I spent on all those OTC coloring kits. I had no idea, how bad my hair looked, until I switched to eSalon. My hair is shinny, silky, and colored equally, tip to root. Those stubborn grays, are no longer an issue. Won't ever go back. Thanks, eSalon!!
As far as the way this product showed up was awesome. The customization was great. I loved that directions were easy to follow.
The color itself is way too dark. I felt as if I was not given very many options because my hair was darker.
I've loved the application, colour and kit generally. The colour doesn't seem to last as long as I'd like, but it is semi permanent and in the red spectrum which tends to fade faster. The colour is great in the sunshine, but looks too similar to my natural colour in indoor lighting. The colour was adjusted for my second batch to contain more violet, however, I've opted for a different bolder colour.
color was perfect, but didn't cover the grey as well as I thought it would. Trying again to make sure I didn't do anything wrong, like not leave it on long enough or something.
