I was really happy with how the colour held in my hair. My hair was lighter on the bottom and its now one colour. It's been 4 weeks and the colour still looks great. At first it was darker than I would have liked but it faded to the right shade after 2 or 3 washes. I will say that the application process was harder than I anticipated. I will get better with practice and is no fault of eSalon :) My hair is really long right now so that made it tricky for me... Thanks eSalon!

I really like the color and the additional end product. It had a touch of red or warmth to it that I did not like initially , but it got better after a couple washings. I really like the color now in the hair has good texture

I found I had plenty solution but I wanted a darker colour but was recommended to stay light but I feel my white roots still show. But now ordering darker colour hope this one is a better match for me

I would definitely give this product 5 stars. I will admit that it came out a bit darker than I thought it would, but I still see the red hues and the quality of my hair came out better than before dying it!

This is the best hair coloring I have tried, including from a salon. A little messier to use than store-bought products I've tried, but the quality makes it worth it.

It was perfect for my hair. My hair was light brown with highlights and it covered it exactly how I wanted. It was very easy to do yourself and the instructions were very helpful. Only thing I would like different is on when you color the rest of your hair it doesn’t tell you to put your hair back or leave it down so was unsure on that. But other than that I love it

I luv that it covers the gray hair real good first time around. Usually when I dye my hair at home (Sally's Beauty hair product) as soon as I wash out the dye, you can still see some gray around the hairline . I was hoping to go a little longer before next touch up with Esalon. It'll be 3 weeks (10/27) since I did my hair and already need to touch up. I don't know if 3 weeks is standard.

The precious box I received contained only one set of hair color, so maybe that was the reason I didn’t get the color I was expecting. For the box that was mailed in September, I receive two different color set (roots and hair length) and I had exactly the color and grey cover that I wanted.
The roots+ends kit worked perfectly!

But have never experienced the satisfaction with a hair care system as I have with e-Salon. Using the line of color, shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, my hair does not turn an ugly orange after a few weeks. Thank you, I’ll never go back.

I waited a bit longer before using the next shipment of color and it proved to be the right thing to do. All the old color was cut off the day before and the color is awesome. I love it and it looks so natural. I hope it lasts as long as the previous one!

Still getting used to the color, not sure if I want to tweak it. Didn't like the color at first because it was darker than my present color(-I forgot that I had requested darker).
I'm getting more used to it. I love that the kit is so personalized and I will order again.

I highly recommend to anyone & everyone I talk to. This has definitely made my life so much easier. My order is always perfect & there when I need it. My stylist always listens, answers my questions, and/or adjusts my color when needed. As of this month I've been ordering from this company for a full year and before starting I didn't believe I would ever find a company that actually made a color that my hair would hold for a month. I had tried 1/2 the salons in town & almost all store bought hair colors. Absolutely nothing would hold longer than 2-3 weeks if that. Now I can go at least 5 weeks!!! Not to mention my hair is actually healthy again! I can't say enough about how wonderful this product is!!!

I loved the way the kit came and the added bonus included. I am used to a thicker, creamier colour but had no problem working with what was sent. I love the outcome. The shine and feel of my hair. There was plenty of product included. I do find that I am still seeing colour bleed out of my hair if I take a bath even a couple of weeks and many washes later.
Edit: Having had another couple of kits now, I want to update and correct. I think it might have just been the lighting in the bathroom. I don't see colour bleeding even soaking in the tub a week or two after my last colour. I love the blend and love the convenience but I will leave it at 4 stars because of the price... I just wish it was a bit cheaper... It can be hard to justify.

I am still exploring, but loving the process of finding my perfect color. I have spent an embarrassing amount of money on hair color treatments from NYC (salons professing to be the most elite) to some very prestigious salons on the west coast. Usually with disappointing results in either the color or equally as important the texture. I took the path of least resistant and started using store bought products to use at home. Every brand, color you name it I tried it. Grateful I fell upon an ad for eSalon and haven't looked back since. #1 objective to color the gray has been accomplished, it lasts much longer (at least 10 days longer than any other product or treatment I have had in the past) and I love the texture of my hair..it doesn't feel treated. Love the whole process, easy application, custom coloring is the best and convenience you can't beat! Bravo!

I ordered after seeing a review from a blog I read. When I received my shipment I opened the box to find one of my bottles of dye had leaked all over! I sent an email not in hopes for a refund or replacement just to let them know so maybe there was a way to prevent it in the future. Well to my utter shock, they refunded and shipped me a new order! I am absolutely beyond impressed with the care this company has for its clients! When I recieved my new box I colored my hair and I will tell you my hair looks better now than when I get my hair done at the salon! I am thinking about going a little darker next time but I am waiting to see if my hair fades at all first! Loving it so far!!! ♥️

I love the color but my hair felt dry and brittle afterwards. And yes i followed the directions exactly. And yes I used the shampoo and conditioner included. I had some conditioner left from another hair color kit and it helped tremendously. Are there any suggestions?

It's nice to be able to sit in a chair and have someone do all of the coloring for you, but that's the only benefit of going to a salon! I saved time, scheduling, and $$ using eSalon and thought the results were just as good or better than paying a professional.

My stylist/colorist who works in Media and has major clients is in New York and we moved so I only seee her once a year - when she saw the color even after almost 3 months she was blown away - told me to bring it always and that she wouldn't change a thing!

I used eSalon's hair color for the first time about a week and a half ago. I love the color and it seems to be holding its color. I got mixed up when I got in the shower and didn't put the rest of the color in to get the suds going, but it worked fine anyway. If I have one suggestion or slight concern is the conditioner does not make my hair feel as silky as my over the counter one I have purchased. Also, the store-bought one has a nice tube of conditioner that lasts much longer that the hair color and I have several tubes still to use. I would suggest that eSalon consider putting at least a small "tube" with a cap and a small shampoo "tube" with a cap in their package. I ended up throwing the small containers that I had to tear open away since I didn't have anything to put them in. I would also suggest that they create a smaller and slightly cheaper color package for us with very short hair. It's a big waste to throw all that good dye away. I may keep some old bottles to split what is sent to me in half and then only get the product every 3 months. So I hope eSalon considers a possible smaller size package. But I do love the color so far. I look forward to my next order and hopefully it will be the same. Thank you so much.

I hesitated for years to leave my salon and try eSalon. I have blonde hair with highlights and my hairstylist kept saying how hard it is to match the color. Well... I got tired of spending $75 + on base hair color. I really need to have my hair colored every 4 weeks (because of my gray hair). :( My Aunt, who also uses eSalon, finally talked me into trying it. I couldn't believe how close my new base color matched my hair. Just as good, if not better, than my salon! I couldn't be happier!!!

I Have worked as hairdresser in NYC for years and now live in NJ. I have been very dissatisfied with all my local salons after working in the industry. They can not get my color correct. When I first tried eSalon I emailed a pictures of what I dislike about my hair color. When my first order arrived it was so perfessional, came with two different colors for correction, mixing bowl, tint brush, and gloves, The directions were perfectly explained, and they did not skimp on the amount. I have long hair. I could not believe the results! After a year I spoke to the color specialist at eSalon and explained I wanted to try something different. My color was adjusted to perfection once again, I will never go to a salon for color after using eSalon. They are the best!!!

The only people who know that my hair has been colored is the ones who didn't see me for about three years when my health was very poor and I was under a lot of stress. They are are all saying that I look better than I have in years included high school. i use product for my roots - wash that grey outta my hair and product will last till my nxt shipmnt (in 30 days) verses root touch-up only last 2 weeks. Thank you eSalon. Looking forward to trying out other products you have for split ends. 😊

Clear instructions; easy to apply; excellent overall coverage (I have resistant grey at front and sides); lifted roots well; colour consistent through whole head of long hair.
Colour stays well, even in Arizona sunshine, it is resisting fading.
Fairly idiot-proof product ... I am not the best at hair colouring, but it would be hard to fail with such a good product and clear instructions.
Looking forward to second shipment.

I needed a correction from a BAD COLOR CHOICE I made a few months ago. All the OTC products I used just made it worse and more brassy. I had ZERO confidence buying this product but I had a coupon and thought "this is the last thing I'll try before crying to my hairdresser" . . . but it worked! Best color I've ever had with any DIY product. I'm a believer!!

Years ago I did at home boxed color on my hair which was OK. Since I wanted something different I started going to an Aveda salon and stuck with it for years. It is so gentle on hair. However it was quite costly and not kind on my budget. After reading online reviews and seeing what I was spending at Aveda, eSalon "custom color" was something I was willing to try. My first order came and I did a strand test. Thank heavens I did! Not for me. Too vibrant. I called eSalon and told them exactly what was wrong. The person was extremely helpful, patient and knowledgeable. To my delight there was no charge for the color adjustment and it arrived within days. I did another strand test and knew we hit a home run when I asked a friend of mine to pick out my strand test hair. She could not. I followed my gut and did the touch up on my roots as directed and then I mixed only half of the bottle of the glossy second bottle for the ends. I proceeded to pull that color in to my existing hair as highlights since my desire is to get more red back into my hair but not all at once. I did not want everybody to know that I was changing my hair back to the reddish color that I love. It turned out gorgeous. I am slowly going to continue to add more red in my existing color during additional applications. I am so pleased I cancelled all my standing appointments at my Aveda Salon and eSalon is now my salon! I cannot say enough about the service and the knowledgeable staff of this company. I highly recommend their hair color and have on order several more of their hair care products to try on my next order.

I am a natural redhead and always feared the time I would have enough gray in my hair that I needed to color. I love my natural color and didn't want to lose it. It can be hard to not end up either orange or burgundy. The only way I had found to give me a natural color with gray coverage had been in a salon...which was SO expensive! After I heard about eSalon I waited months before I got the courage to try it. I was so afraid that I would end up with a color I hated! Finally, after another expensive salon visit, I decided to bite the bullet and place an order. I fully expected to have to tweak my color a few times before it was something I could live with, but was ready to give it a go. When my order arrived, I was very impressed with the professional packaging and the OCD part of me loved the organized and well labeled way that everything was presented. My custom instructions were clear and easy to follow, making my application stress free. The color that resulted was EXACTLY what I wanted! I have to admit that I was surprised to not only get such a beautiful, natural color, but that it happened in the first attempt. The shampoo and conditioner packets that came with the color left my hair so soft and healthy feeling too! That was back in December of 2014 and I've been using the same color formulation ever since. Having auto ship set up is so convenient and the few times I've had to adjust my ship date to accommodate a vacation or event have been super easy. I've saved a fortune in salon costs and honestly don't see any difference in the quality of the color or the condition of my hair. SO glad I decided to take the chance!

I am soooo impressed with the color results as well as customer support. My hair had been in terrible shape fine thin fried and wavy. The only way I could get even results was going to a salon. I couldn't afford it anymore. I tried this and my hair felt better! This was after I dyed it. I had not done my color properly and I showed them next I knew they sent me a free color and refunded me for the first time. I've continued to use the colors adjusting each time, skipped some shipments, added or deleted things last minute and I have referred everyone. I will never go back to salons and never dye from a box again!! $

I have been box coloring my hair for years and loved the quiz aspect of esalon before choosing the color. I tried it out completely unsure of what I would get. When my box arrived I was BEYOND impressed with the packaging. It was so so so adorable and customized for me. I color by hair red and was trying a "golden pearl". The color is a little thinner than others I have used in the past but I had plenty of product to cover my hair. I have read some reviews saying it was hard to wash out and that is literally how it is with any box dyes. The color is a little more brown than blonde but I am still happy with it! It isn't actually as much of a difference as I expected but I would absolutely use again! Very very impressed!

This was so easy to do with the step by step directions.
It didn't make my hair all tangly and waxy feeling.
The only downfall is the smell is strong but it doesn't last long.
I will continue to buy my color from eSalon.com.

Sooo much better than store bought and much more affordable than the salon. My hair is glossy and healthy looking. My only concern is my color was a bit too dark this time but that may have been applicator error. All in all, a great deal that I plan to use until I'm ready to go gray.

This was my first time ever dyeing my hair from home. I'd recently moved and had gone to a stylist to get my hair done, but a few weeks later all the color was gone and I just couldn't afford to have someone do my hair again. I decided to try eSalon after my mom gave me a great recommendation.
I was a little nervous to go forward and do my own hair. It was a bit messy, and took longer than they said it would on the instructions, but I have hair down to my lower back so I wasn't surprised. Quite a bit of time later I came out and blow dried my hair and it was everything I'd wanted. As a dark brunette, I often just want red highlights or to enhance the slight auburn tint in my hair. I'd decided I wanted to go full auburn recently, and eSalon hit the nail on the head. The previous stylist had bleached highlights into my hair, which I didn't know she was going to do, so once all the color left them I really needed something to cover the startling blonde that was in my hair. After the eSalon color, my dark brown was there, but shaded to the perfect auburn keeping it close to my normal hair color so it wasn't a drastic change, but giving me exactly what I'd wanted, and it covered the bleached strands so they fit in with the rest of my hair. I also had plenty of dimension, which had been something else I worried about.
I can't wait to use it again. Maybe I'll bump up to permanent color in the future, but for now I'm happy with my Demi-color getting refreshed every other month!

I have used this color product three times now. I did send a photo of my current hair and another of my hair color years ago, in hopes to get as close as could be to my used-to-be-younger natural color. The first color was what I asked for... but I found it to be more red than I liked. I am much older now and found that my youthful hair was not fitting for me anymore! Ha Ha I explained this to the colorist and asked it to be a little darker and less red. The second color came and it was just right!! I have my daughter apply it. Everything comes in the kit. I feel the color stays well! I am usually peppered with gray.
My hair is an A-line bob to my chin. There is more than enough product to color my hair. In fact if there was one thing I could change it would be to pay less and receive half the product. That would be enough to cover my hair.
I am very pleased with the results and receive compliments all of the time on my hair!!!

The roots were done in a medium blonde than I applied the highlights after rinsing and drying . Combed it through and used my fingers. Was a little insure . Rinsed added the toner. LOVE

I must say I was a bit nervous about trying a "custom" color done online but I had nothing to worry about...it was easy to apply and the color is spot on what I hoped it would be...absolutely gorgeous...I can't thank you enough. My only criticism is with the tiny packets of shampoo and conditioner...not nearly enough for shoulder length hair...thankfully I had my own color-safe brand on hand so it wasn't a huge problem. I love the custom color so much I'm going to sign up for the automatic shipping. One of these days I just may be brave enough to try the highlight kit as well. Thanks again!

Curly hair means I can get away with coloring less often (every 8 weeks) - color stays true, minimal fading (curse you, resistant grays!), no brassiness.

Incredible grey coverage

I have been coloring my hair for many years, and I am NOT being paid for saying that the color purchased from eSalon covers the grey in my hair completely AND lasts for 4-6 weeks. NO product I've used in the last 40 years has ever lasted as long. My hair seems much thicker too, although I've never had a problem with that. Even my sideburns don't turn grey as fast. This is the second time I used this product. Since I was told I could make adjustments to the color if I wished, I asked to have the color slightly lighter and to have a tiny bit of red added. Now I have my lifetime color (even at age 77). So easy to use and order,

I'm finding the eSalon instructions easy to follow and the tools included are great. My biggest concern continues to be in not coloring hair that's already colored. I'm applying color to the roots and down about halfway, which seems fine; just a different process than other diy methods or getting it done in the salon. The other hang up is in getting it out completely. I don't feel like my hair is coming clean when I wash it.

The color I received on my first shipment was dead on - the exact color I'd receive going to the salon for a much higher price. I'm super thrilled with my decision to try eSalon. I've made a few tweaks for the next round of color, and I'm excited to see how it turns out.

This is the third time I've used this dye. It's slightly more awkward to apply after first time because you apply to the roots . I asked a friend to help.
The colour is outstanding and long lasting. Even when my hair has grown the ends of the hair still have vivid colour. I'm definitely going to use this for a long time.

Since I have been using esalon I have saved money, saved time and had great results every single time. I am not sure how the color formula manages to leave me with highlights, without any special procedure. And it does. So while time goes by, my hair just doesn't age. Maybe it's magic. Most likely it is using these products.

I absolutely love my hair color that I get in the mail. I've been buying now for about a year. And I can honestly say it's much better than a box from drug store! However, having had a huge stressor in my life after losing my daughter to brain cancer when she was 7, puts a lot of strain and wear on your hair! For example, losing hair, thinning in areas, dull looking hair... I do a protein Joico k pak every week to help my hair. I'm doing my best to eat right, but I'm a nurse on the night shift and I don't always eat the best I have to admit! So, with that said I'm now doing more to help my body get healthy exercising, getting more sleep during the day, like 7-8 hrs like ppl do at night. Which it's still awful to try and work nights and maintain a daytime lifestyle. Eating better, drinking plenty of water, lots of vegies, fruits etc...

Starting going gray at 25 (aren't genetics awesome?!) Basically 28 years of coloring. Dark hair (italian heritage) Depending on my budget, I've had my hair colored by multiple really talented pros including Violet at Vidal Sassoon NYC, Devachan Broome St, and done multiple at home tactics ... Loreal pref, feria or excellence initially with highlights days later; Revlon, fructis.... eSalon color is multidimensional, something only my pros could achieve, and the feel after the color is as soft as the pros when I would get a Gloss treatment or deep condition. Amazing value for the quality received. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars: in the summer I like some highlights, bronze or copper. Asked but not received. Everything else is perfect.

ON MY FIRST VISIT, THE HEAD COLORIST, CAROL APPLIED MY COLOR AND I TOLD HER TO WATCH MY COLOR CAREFULLY BECAUSE MY ROOTS WILL LIGHTEN UP VERY QUICKLY. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I ENDED UP WITH PLATINUM ROOTS AND AS I SAT THERE CRYING THINKING HOW MY AGENT WAS GOING TO KILL ME, IN WALKS SEXIEST HAIR COLORIST EVER!!! HE TOOK ONE LOOK AT MY TERRIBLE ROOTS AND TOLD ME TO FOLLOW HIM. I WAS TERRIFIED BECAUSE HIS COLORING RATES ARE WELL IN THE THOUSANDS, THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD AFFORD HIS RATES I THOUGHT AS WE PASSED THROUGH A GORGEOUS PURPLE VELVET CURTAIN AND INTO HIS PRIVATE MAN CAVE. AFTER HE HAD EXPERTLY FIXED MY COLOR, I STARTED TREMBLE AT THE THOUGHT OF THE BILL FOR HIS SERVICES, BUT HE HANDED ME A BILL FOR $75 DOLLARS, REFUSED A TIP, AND APOLOGIZED FOR THE ONCE WHITE ROOTS THAT CAROL HAD GIVEN ME. THE REASON I TELL THIS STORY IS THAT eSALON'S STAFF REMIND ME SO MUCH OF MY SEVEN YEAR COLOR RELATIONSHIP I HAD WITH LOUIS LICARI. HE, LIKE ALL THE COLORING EXPERTS AT eSALON THAT I HAVE WORKED WITH, ARE ALL ABOUT THE LOVE OF THE ART OF COLOR AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, LIKE MR. LICARI, ALL THE STAFF AT eSALON ARE REALLY HERE TO HELP AND LISTEN TO ALL COLORING QUESTION, APPLICATION OF THE PRODUCTS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE AN EXPERT. I've been spreading the word to all my friends and family about the fabulous eSalon color products. I am a natural redhead, and I've gone more strawberry blonde as I've aged. But I had my first professional allover color done 2 months ago, and it came out very dark. I then I ordered eSalon color to just do my roots once it grew out, and they were spot on with the color match! I panicked for a moment, because it was looking pretty orange..but I waited the 1/2 hour and the results were fantastic. eSalon had me send extra pictures just to get it right, and it worked, I am hooked, no more salon hair color expense and wait time for me.

I like my color. I try to get it close to my natural color. I don't like my hair afterwards, though. It's like straw. It takes me to my next color date to get it soft.MAYBE, a different conditioner..

I coloured my hair for the first time with an eSalon colour 3 weeks ago and still no sign of grey on the top of my hair which is unheard of! Usually colour every 3 to 4 weeks, as it's necessary to keep the grey at bay! Will be interesting to see how long it is before I feel I have to colour again!
